I'm cautiously in favour of OGS bcoming our manager although I have reservations about ManUre connection. Expect some red loans perhaps.

I know its only Norway but like Fergie said ‘If you go to a club in Norway that have never won the league in their history and you win that league, then you have to have something about you.’

didnt Mclaren do the same in Holland, a much more difficult task i would say

not against OGS though, my hunch is he could be great for us

Can I just contradict myself, after checking on Wiki if it hadn't been for Rosenberg winning the League 13 times in a row they probably would have won it years ago, so it was going to happen sooner or later. I actually like the idea of OGS

I'm amazed so many people are blindly excited by this.

He may about to progress into the next Jose Mourinho, but wouldn't you like to see some fucking proof first?

The point being, with more proof, there would be bigger fish circling than Villa.  If the options are the likes of Curbishley etc, I'd back going down a route like this.  It can't be any worse than last season - I'm in, and I've got an unusually good feeling about it.

There are plenty of steps in between Molde and Aston Villa mate. I doubt he would be on Liverpools wish list. Are you saying we wouldn't be able to poach him from West Brom for example?
After all, we pay Top20 wages, I don't expect to be gambling so heavily on an unknown quantity.

Well Liverpool are a substantially bigger club than us with immediate demands.  I would hope that after the last two dire seasons under very experienced managers, everyone would buy into giving him a chance to build something.  And as for getting West Brom's manager, I don't fancy our chances of getting any of Wigan's, Swansea's or Norwich's manager as things stand.

All things said, Lambert would be my choice, if we can't get him, and the options are a Curbishley - then I'm happy for Randy to do something different.  It might help to break our boring perception as a club and reinvigorate the place.

When you compare their coaching careers, he's barely less experienced than Lambert or Rodgers really. And that's without considering his playing career.

Management is what it is, one minute you're the next big thing, the next mintue you're a nobody (Jewell, Dowie, Brown etc.) - there's no guarantee Lambert or Rodgers are anything special just like there isn't with OGS.

It's a risk but it doesn't seem it's ill-thought, he meets all the criteria they highlighted after sacking McLeish and he's got a reputation for positive football and unorthodox methods.

Even under MON we were boring and predictable. Atleast this will be exciting.

We could pay his current club their compensation in defunct Greek Euros.

It would be Molde Old Dough.

That made me chuckle

Wolves have been
criticised for appointing a guy who has won 5 Danish titles.

OGS's success in Norway is not why he's in line for the job, but rather a result of the
attributes he has, which is why we are interested in him.

Maybe so, but I was kind of hoping one the attributes of the next Aston Villa manager was a career record of winning lots and lots and lots of football matches.

That's a CV, not a list of attributes.

Someone wrote "it's not where you've come from, it's where you're taking us" and I think this applies equally to OGS. Until you give someone the chance you just never know where it might go. It would certainly be exciting and you've got to admire Lerner as appointing him would take a massive amount of bottle.

It is a gamble, but if it is OGS then let's get behind him from day 1.

I hope he has Fergie's work ethic and discipline and we know Ole is a born winner.

Are people suggesting John Gregory was a success now? I thought spunking loads of money on players with no sell-on value, finishing 6th and losing in cup finals was viewed as a capital offence these days.

Compared to GT mark II, O'Leary, Houllier and McLeish he was a success. If you like, our second most successful manager in the past 14 years.
