Could he deal with troublemakers?  How much respect would he have?

Well the fact he's won more than the entire squad put together and played in bigger games than the entire squad might help.

fair point although I was thinking more of personality.

A huge amount of respect I would imagine.

He scored the winner in the Champions League Final. I think he will have the respect he needs.

I'm amazed so many people are blindly excited by this.

He may about to progress into the next Jose Mourinho, but wouldn't you like to see some fucking proof first?

The point being, with more proof, there would be bigger fish circling than Villa.  If the options are the likes of Curbishley etc, I'd back going down a route like this.  It can't be any worse than last season - I'm in, and I've got an unusually good feeling about it.

Hopefully if there are any troublemakers he will go to Mr. Lerner and say " Is it ok to fuck these idiots off mr.Lerner"

Wolves have been criticised for appointing a guy who has won 5 Danish titles.

OGS's success in Norway is not why he's in line for the job, but rather a result of the
attributes he has, which is why we are interested in him.

Maybe so, but I was kind of hoping one the attributes of the next Aston Villa manager was a career record of winning lots and lots and lots of football matches.

Sadly that's not where we are at the moment. This could be a chance to get 'a next big thing' manager, which we wouldn't have a hope with if we don't take a gamble. It won't necessarily work, but it's worth a risk. He doesn't even have to do a great job to improve us.

Is it wrong that I would take OGS right now only because last year we were dismissing Ancelotti and ended up with McLeish?

Agreed, but I'm surprised that so many are set against it.

It might be brilliant, it might not. But at least it'll be something a bit different. Right now, I'd take that.

His present number 2 at Molde is a guy called Mark Dempsey.

Yeah, lets wait until he's a success somewhere else and then stand no chance of getting him.  What Villa need is a steady eddy like Curbishley who's got experience in the league and knows english football.  Besides, what managers have ever been successful before they've had 10years as a manager.

Or maybe, just maybe, we're going for a guy who's considered one of the hottest managerial prospects in europe and people need to realise that experience isn't the be all and end of being able to do the job.  Experience ahead of ability is why Alan Hutton kept Eric Lichaj out of the team most of the season and Heskey got a lot more time on the pitch than Weimann.  Sometimes people are just a good choice, to me OGS is one of those that's worth the risk.

Indeed, he could always just show them his medals.

Once we've seen proof, he'll be too expensive and/or looking for a 'bigger' job. Let's get in on the ground floor for once and take a bloody chance, what did trying to play safe get us last time?

Sadly those type of managers don't want to come to the Villa.

If someone has proven that they are the next Mourinho, why would they come to manage us. Our job is to get someone in before they're proven and become the genius with us.
