Maybe we have asked Norwich and they've said no, or we've spoken to lambert and he's not interested?
Let's face it, he heard first hand on Sunday what lies in store for him if it alk goes wrong!

If it is Solskjaer then it intrigues me. A player who has played at Man Utd for over a decade under one of- if not the- greatest managers of all time must be pretty clued up I'd say. He's a relatively big name with a lot to prove to drive him on.

It is risky however, and after the last couple of appointments I'd have thought the board would have wanted a safer option if there is such a thing.

Ridiculous move in my opinion. Stop pissing about and get Lambert or Rodgers.

yep. Seems after all the turmoil last season they're willing to take another leap in the dark. He'll jump at the chance i guess but it could go tits-up very quickly.
You hope more like.

Was Greg not saying he wanted a continental manager?

This summer reminds me of two distinct summers from years gone by.

1. The summer Platt left 'Big Ron' joined and signed a virtual brand new team with the money from Bari. Lots of optimism with a new manager and new team.
2. The summer we signed Mark Draper and Southgate. Brian Little built a new side which beat Man United 3-1 on the opening game of the season.

I just feel we have an opportunity this summer to build again within a renewed sense of hope and optimism, we have issues and certain players need to move on for us to grow. Fingers crossed it all goes well...

Hardly.  I wasn't at the head of the mob on here going after Houllier and AM. If we go for him good luck to him but it really is a risk imo. A lot of people on here seem to want him on the fact that they like him more than anything in his CV.

A club that two years ago finished sixth, got to the League Cup Final and the FA Cup Semi-final.

And don't they look great on our honours list.

OGS? Well put ourselves in Randy's shoes/wallet and it makes sense. We can't afford big names but have a core of youngsters who were brought through in a fluid, attack minded, successful (academy/reserves) style. Add OGS. Catalyst he might be. Worked with young players, has experienced the best, certainly attack minded with
(apparently) a fine appreciation of the tactical game. Certainly ambitious. I think he would work well with K Mac.

We would need a spine of experienced pro's to help. But older heads with the same footballing philosphy. We are hopefully losing our clumsy old buggars so we will need a few footballers in the short term.

Risky of course given only lesser league sucess. But I like it. Maybe need a DoF. Maybe.

Hang on Greg, you want them - to use your own words - 'to look abroad' and then as soon as they do, they should stop pissing about and go for Lambert or Rodgers.

I'm fucking glad you weren't in charge of the D-Day landings. We'd have invaded Dorset

First step into coaching

Solskjær signed his last player contract with Manchester United on 31 March 2006, with a provision to allow him to develop his coaching awards. He also acted in an ambassadorial role for the club, when he travelled to Hong Kong in 2006 and played with students at the Manchester United Soccer School in Hong Kong. When interviewed by Setanta Sports in August 2007, Solskjær confirmed he would train to be a coach after retiring from professional football, and would start to earn the required badges after his last season with Manchester United. Following his retirement, Solskjær worked for Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, coaching the strikers on the first team for the remainder of the 2007–08 season.

As announced on 20 May 2008, he took over the Manchester United Reserves during the summer of 2008. He won the 2007–08 Lancashire Senior Cup by defeating the Liverpool Reserves 3–2 in the final.[11] On 12 May 2010, Solskjær won his first Manchester Senior Cup by defeating Bolton 1–0 at the Reebok Stadium.[12]

Shortly after the resignation of Åge Hareide from the position, Solskjær was offered the opportunity to coach the Norwegian national team; he declined, saying that it was not yet the right time for him to become the Norway coach.[13] Solskjær's final game as Manchester United Reserves manager was a 5–1 victory over Newcastle United on 16 December 2010.[14]

[edit] Molde

On 9 November 2010, Solskjær signed a four-year contract with the Norwegian side Molde FK to take over as manager, where he played prior to moving to Manchester United.[15] Solskjær continued as Manchester United Reserves manager until January 2011, when he took over at Molde for the start of the new season.[16]

Molde played their first league game under Solskjær on the 18 March 2011 and suffered an embarrassing 3–0 defeat to newly promoted Sarpsborg 08. They played their first home game of the season on 3 April, where despite coming from 1–0 down to lead 2–1 they were held to a 2–2 draw by league leaders Tromsø. Molde's first goal under Solskjær was scored in this game, by Senegalese striker Pape Paté Diouf. On 17 April 2011, Solskjær won his first Tippeliga game at Molde with the 3–2 home win over Stabæk. On Molde's 100 years anniversary on 19 June 2011, Solskjær lead the team to a 2–0 victory over Sogndal and the top of the Tippeliga. On 30 October 2011, Solskjær won the Tippeliga with Molde in his first year as manager for the team.

I've flip flopped on this like a bastard all day. There will be a media circus around him from his Man U days and it will get pretty syruppy when he plays against his old boss. Still, if this is true, then not only does it draw us back into the media spotlight in a positive way, but it is very inventive indeed. He's clearly an up and coming manager and has done well in a short time. Fabulous player, with an incredible exposure to one of the best club teams of our generation and certainly one of the greatest managers. Hate him all you want, that is undeniable. I read the article posted a few pages back and he certainly has comething about him in how he handles himself.

This would be very interesting indeed. We'd certainly play football the right way.

don't hurt yourself trying to figure him out Damon. We could appoint Guardiola and Greg won't like how Pep is spelt.

I already answered this Damon. Norway is not a top league abroad..  Presumably when i said look abroad you took that to mean anywhere from the isle of sky to Albania provided they have a league
