Find it hard to believe that the day after Huddersfield made it into the playoff final their manager would then spend the day at Bodymoor Heath. Unless of course they are visiting a female acquaintance.

Maz give him a break just posting what he has been told

No problems mate, I've been on here long enough to know that........ big Mazrim Alpha Male(beats chest)

Don't forget that Maz owes this forum his knackers, after he swore he'd cut them off if Bolton ever spent £8m on a player...just before they bought Anelka for just that amount.

Maybe he's a railway enthusiast and just wanted to see the proposed route of HS2 with his own eyes

OK, here's a prediction:-

Lambert is the man they want and contact has been made.  At least with his agent, if not with Norwich or direct to the man himself.  Norwich have this big friendly with Celtic that I understand Lambert helped arrange on Tuesday 22/5, he has an affinity to them, so wants to be manager for this game.  We'll hear reports of 'farewell' like waves to the crowd after this game, which will spark a media frenzy where they all trip over themselves trying to claim a 'Lambert to Villa' exclusive the next day.

Then, probably on the Thursday, things will become official with confirmation of an approach from villa, but knowing our board they won't name names.  It'll be an open secret it's Lambert and then the deal will be done for a Friday press conference.

Remember - 'you heard it here first'!

Simon Grayson and Mick McCarthy have been given the courtesy of an interview probably because they applied. Randy would be commiting "Suicide" if he appointed either.

Why waste time granting unsuitable candidates an interview?  The general approach to recruiting from applicants is to check CVs first for suitably qualified and experienced candidates and select a shortlist from those, binning the rest. It's not as if they can lie about their past, it's a matter of public record with football managers.  Unless they are preparing a "last resort" list, just in case preferred candidates are headhunted and don't want to come.  But then we'd be as well giving Sid and KMac a go.

...there's more chance Shirley Bassey will be manager of Aston Villa with a coaching staff of Elaine Paige and Barbara Dickson.  ;)

What a wonderful idea. Can you imagine them on the pitch before a big match...

Midnight
Not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight
The withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan

Marvellous.

I seem to recall Barry Bannan slated Grayson (after he went on loan at Leeds but didn't play much) - so I'd guess it would be the end for Bannan.

Also, wasn't Grayson involved in the "Jo affair" as dramatised on the Danny Baker show in the 90s?  (Also involving Brian Little).

This would be supported by Dave's theory that we know who we want, but may have to wait a little while yet. Using that same theory you could also argue a case for Di Matteo and (cough) Allardyce or Holloway!
