I've got a bottle of 2-stroke mix for the strimmer. It'll burn a bit smoky but ought to get the job done

So today hopefully is the day Mic, Fat Sam, Curbs and Holloway would rather manage Odd Bins than the Villa. Then we will need a new short list.

I expect that today is the day we'll hear people ruling themselves out. It's all very well drawing up a shortlist but at some point your candidates have to say whether they're interested or not.

Let's not go too mad if we get a couple of knockbacks.
I won't be happy unless some of the more jittery amongst us set themselves on fire in protest.

I'm not going to worry any more, history tells us were going to be underwhelmed whatever, if managers such as lambert are going to rule themselves out (I don't believe the guardian to be fair) then were going to have to accept whatever comes our way.

Would expect liverpool to either go for rafa or avb- cant see martinez or lambert being considered by them , surely randy and faulkner must have discussed this last week and must know who their top target is ,hopefully we will hear of an approach very shortly.

If Mourinho comes in, we'll moan....
If Guardiola comes in, we'll moan...
If McLeish comes in, we'll moan...

When won't we moan?

We're Aston Villa, we'll moan when we want...

An astute candidate for the Villa manager's job would note that there is a lot of easy acclaim to be won for himself as the awful gloom of Houllier and McLeish dissipates.   In much the same way that O'Neill claimed all the credit for Sunderland recovering to a status of mid table mediocrity after Bruce, pretty much any competent manager with ability higher than McCarthy's has an open goal to get him started at Villa Park because he has the triple virtues of not being O'Neill, not being Houllier and not being McLeish.

One of my students who's good mates with Gary Gardner has been told by him to put a bet on Simon Grayson who apparently was at Villa Park all day yesterday. My student has just put a bet of £80 on it.

You heard it here first (that's something I've always wanted to say but never had the chance!)!!!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news and I thought there is no way on this Earth that it would happen but.....The interest at Villa Park in Mick McCarthy is very serious apparently. I used to work at The Mail and this has come from there. Apparently there is every chance that Mick McCarthy will take over in the very near future.I've even been told to put money on it :(

I hope they are pulling my plonker to be honest.......

Legion will verify my story for me as I used to have a season ticket next to him at VP.
