If you look at Rodgers' record, though, it's not that impressive. I say that having just this minute looked at it for the first time.

Watford (7 months) P32 W13 D7 L12 Win rate 40.63%

Reading (6 months)  P23 W6 D6 L11 Win rate 26%

Swansea (22 months) P96 W43 D20 L33 Win rate 44.79%

Looking at that, he tore up no trees at Watford or Reading, then moved to Swansea, got promoted, and kept them up.

What concerns me is how much of the way things are set up at Swansea is about Rodgers, and how much is about the work of those who went before him.

If we can't have Hoddle because he once made comments about the disabled, and can't have Di Canio because he has political beliefs that defy belief, and if we can't have others for similar non-footballing reasons, then why the clamour for Ray Wilkins, a man who has this month been charged with drink driving? Is that double standards or is that misdemeanour more acceptable?

Wilkins DOF, RDM Head Coach, Clarke Asst.Coach.  Now there's a thought.
Although I keep saying that RDM isn't my first choice, imagining those three working together with Sid and K Mac does make my mouth water.

Im a Rodgers fan as well. The guy is fluent in Spainsh and has been travelling to Spain an Holland learning coacing styles and methods for the last 10 years. He's certainly served his apprenticeship. Yet if you listen to that nob Dave Whelan you'd think Martinez was the new Guardiola, yet Rodgers has done more in his first season in the Prem than Martinez has done since he joined wigan.

Do you have any evidence that they like or even know each other?

sonlyme, you have posted a couple of times in the past two days and on each occasion you really made me question my faith in Lambert. Great arguments and well articulated.

I still think I favour Lambert, slightly. By your third post I'll probably have changed my mind!

lots of managers are crap to start with. Its whether they learn from their mistakes. I'm not sure i'd want another manager who's never failed like MON before he came here

That would be four coaches. It's more than Bowen's.

exactly, you learn more through adversity than success, I dont think Ron Saunders record was that great before he arrived.

Mind you, after last year, our squad shouldn't need any instruction in bus parking.
