Collymore just pointed out on TalkSport that our biggest home win of the season was 2-0 against Wigan. All I want in the next manager is someone who's gonna win games at Villa Park :(

Technically it would be the 3-1 win against Blackburn. Yet again the lifelong Villa fan gets something wrong.

I reckon they'll set-up a blue screen for all the interviewees to see who looks most genuine on TV saying "I knew the condItions when i came here", "its great to have Hutton fit again and available" and "well Newcastle have a different agenda to us". Out of the 'vibrant' managers on the list, i reckon Poyet will fail the giggle test.

Splitting hairs but you could say the 3 1 v Blackburn was equally as big but then what does SVC know !

I can't see our crowd staying patient while Martinez and Rodgers try and implement their style of play.
I think Martinez would burst into tears if he got the abuse that McLeish did.

But then he probably wouldn't make defensive substitutions when we are already 2-0 down, so it's unlikely he'd get that level of abuse.

He's been banging on about that since Monday.  He really is a dreadful, dreadful radio presenter.

Not just me then, he loves the sound of his own voice that bloke. Takes him ages to get to the point.

As for Martinez breaking down if he got the same abuse McLeish got I think bearing in mind  the proof in black and white in the record books of what actually happened on the pitch during McLeish's period in charge we the fans were remarkably restrained in our treatment of him.   Our patience snapped in the 86th minute of the Bolton game.   The "Cauldron of Hate" and Villa fans as a whole being on McLeish's back from day one are figments of the venomous minds of the likes of James Nursey in the Mirror.

I for one am not going on a guilt trip about McLeish.

I'm still hearing that Roberto Di Matteo is the preferred choice of those at Villa Park who matter. Also preliminary talks have been held.
He's not my first choice but I could live with it.
And by the way, I wont say on here where I get my info from, but it is a fairly decent source.
Apparently Randy is due in the UK on Friday and an announcement will be made early next week.
As I say, if it's wrong don't shoot the messenger.

I'd agree with that summation.

Neither am I. Good riddance to an awful manager.

The homeform did do for McLeish to be fair. He may have survived if he'd got a few home wins during that period where you could see the confidence drain from our players as soon as they took to the pitch at VP. Swansea was the game for me. Losing that fucked us permanently.

Ian Taylor said on Sky yesterday that we had to get it "spot on" this time, whilst I agree totally with that I still have a certain dread as to who we actually end up with.
It would be cruel beyond words to be relieved of that ginger monster only to see him replaced with another dinosaur like McCarthy (in fact experience should tell Lerner to rule out any candidate who's name stars with "Mc")
I would love to see them just go for it with the likes of Zola or Di canio with a number 2 like Clarke and attack every team who comes to Villa park!
Here's hoping.......................................................................................
