From what Faulkner has said, there is no way McCarthy will get the Villa job and I am positive he won't get it.

So why is it then I keep fearing the worst?

Why would Big Sam be poor choice? does he still use long ball tactics?

The fact they hired Mcleish and saw what happened over the last year means that there is no way they will repeat the mistake. The only benefit of the Mcleish appointment is that it means we won't be getting McCarthy, Bruce or the like.

Ah, I'd forgotten this feeling. The excited anticipation of a new manager coming in, gradually wearing off as a succession of unsuitable candidates are discussed...
...and all those who threatened never to go again while McLeish was there suddenly finding another excuse.

At least you'll be there, Number One Superfan.

Well hearing PF last night on the radio , talkng about getting the fans exciting again with the next manager.

No way can it be Mcarthy ,  unless PF has shares with the Samaritans

thats the worrying thing about the MM odds. Who in their right mind would put their own money on him? as a betting choice its up there with Elvis being appointed. Trouble is thats just our opinion, the board could be using the same winning criteria for a manager as last year

It's a vicious circle, surely? The more speculation on here (and elsewhere) about McCarthy; the more people think there might be something in it; the more bets are laid; the lower the odds; the more people speculate; the more people think there might be something in it...

well the press aren't helping thats for sure. the fact they all claim we've made contact but he's an outsider reeks of them covering their backs when he's not appointed

I was all in favour of Lambert and also thought he would be the board's choice as well, but thinking about it again I'm not so sure.

They made a mistake with the Scottish Manager, of that their is no doubt and they've pretty much admitted as much.  K-Mac and Sid are in their plans, who both like to play football a certain way, as did Houllier.

Lambert is less that style and more similar to MON where the result is all important.  He isn't long ball as some would have you believe, but likes to vary tactics as necessary.  I like that about him myself, but if the idea is to go back to what we were trying to do with Houllier and utilize the K-Mac and Sid, then Rodgers or martinez make more sense.

McCarthy rumours are crap ,

I have it from a very good source from the club that it is going to be Michael Jackson with Bubbles as his left hand man and elizabeth Taylor has the fitness coach with the chief scout being Macaulay Culkin . club doctor will be Whitney Houston.

I appreciate many of the posts on here are tongue in cheek, or a wind up, but please stop. After the events of 11 months ago I don't think my nerves can take it.

I'm going to put £50 on Mick getting the job, so if some disaster happens and he does get the job I'll be a little bit happy :)
