The collective sigh of relief at the end of McLeish's "reign" has turned into one hell of a surreal party:-

Mick McCarthy? Sam Allardyce? Keep it up, this thread is comedy gold!

There is only one man for the Villa -  a snip at 66-1 with a goal ratio to match. Step forward Ivanhoe!!!!

If you look at how injuries have ravaged our season these past two years, there might be some logic in the Fat Sam connection.

He is big into sports science, and has a whole team of dieticians, nutritionists and physios that he takes to every club.  Except West Ham, I'm led to believe.  So he might welcome the opportunity to be reunited with them again at VP.

From the clubs point of view, they might think that less rehabilitation time for our key players will automatically result in more points, whilst at the same time Fat Sam won't be demanding the earth vis a vis transfer funds and so forth.

I can see your reasoning, I just can't see the board risking another appointment that the fans would never get behind.

You GM collaborators shouldn't tease too much. Some of the plebs have dodgy tickers.

Ahhhh, good shout.

Karen Brady to replace Faulkner, she tweeted "leaving Birmingham  left a big hole that could never be filled"

Didn't Fat Sam have something ridiculous like 40 staff at the Geordies?

I would worry that he would fall out with the groundsman if he gobs all his chewing gum on the pitch...

He does have localish roots though considering where he was born.

There's sound logic behind that Kevin

And a very tenuous link.  Some people reckon that Lerner knows nothing about football so how is he going to come to that conclusion.

Young, envigorating? Hmmm, sounds like fat Sam doesn't it? NOT.

It's silly season.
A couple have already pointed out that Sam could be DOF with Coyle, aged 46, as Manager. As has been pointed out, it all hinges on the Play-Off Final, after which Lerner is expected to move fast.

Via Faulkner perhaps?
