If Lambert's been tapped up, then call me a prick, as I'd be well happy with that. It's about time we went and got our man. I know there are some decent names that would do as good a job, but he seems to be the type of bloke that is ready to step up. His exposure to football in Germany means he is a student of the game and will, given the right opportunity cast his net out wide to find the right players and keep learning about the game.

FWIW, my mate supports Wycombe and he absolutely hates Paul Lambert.

well there's definitely something in this Steve Nicol thing as he has dropped to 28-1. Not earth shattering I grant you, and I'll start to brick it when he hits single digits. I've been on the Toronto FC website and they had someone mention it in their version of Off Topic. Off to check out the New England forum. Those fans won't be happy as he is very popular over there. His teams are very organised and play some nice stuff on the deck.

Toronto, there's not "definitely something in this Steve Nicol thing" whatsover, as I said before, a movement of that nature, in a market this small, means absolutely nothing whatsoever.

By your own measurement, if there's something in Steve Nicol based on that movement, then Mick McCarthy must be getting his initials painted on his new parking space at Bodymoor Heath.

paulie, don't shoot the messenger mate. It just seems weird that his number should have moved as much as it has in one day. He's done well out here, he has reputation as a very successful player in England at one of the most successful clubs ever. If Randy wants to create a different environment, and a culture of success then he'll be somebidy worthy of an opportunity. He's the right age as well. He also plays the right brand of football. You might be right, but he's not the same old names that have been recycled in English football. He'd bring some new ideas.

Not shooting the messenger, at all, I'm just saying that the basis for your argument, ie the odds move, really means nothing at all.

I understand what you are saying, but the odds don't only move because of money but also because the bookies go by what they are thinking and how they can influence the market. The fact that McCarthy is that far up is done as much to cause alarm and stimulate interest in the situation. When a lesser name moves I read more into that. I have no idea why in the US, Steve Nicol's name, a name I'd never had in my head, would have dropped quite sharpely if there wasn't something in it. Now, I could be completely wrong, and probably am, and hope I am, but it would be an interesting move nonetheless.

Please Villa get either Lambert, Martinez, Low, AVB, Benitez or Rodgers. That's numerous options, now go get one.

why? He did rather well there. They went on a pretty good run in one of the cups if I recall correctly.

He had Wycombe playing fairly decent football for that level. Certainly, I've seen them under about 5-6 different managers, including their current (a poor man's McLeish) and they looked a much better footballing side under Lambert than the others.
Wycombe had their best cup run, a Carling Cup Semi (or was it the FA? Can't remember) under Sanchez.
The last manager we had who started off at Wycombe, didn't do too badly anyway. And the one before him did reasonably well too.

From what i've just heard from 2 different people, one of our targets won't have to buy a new scarf as the colours of his current club are the same.

Burnley or Wet Spam? Dudley's finest perhaps?
