Oh no! Mick McCarthy odd slashed 33/1 to 11/8.
I do wish that you lot would stop trying to spoil what has been a happy last twenty four hours.

We support Villa. We know the happy times dont last long. :D

Brendan Rodgers please.

Certainly, sir - that'll be £8m.  Would you like me to wrap him for you?

Mick McCarthy?  Fucking Hell! What would the point of sacking McLeish be if we got his footballing doppleganger?

If we're going down that route, let's at least try to get Tony Pulis.

If I may make a suggestion, constantly refreshing Oddschecker in reference to the the next Villa manager is a path paved with sorrow so best avoided.  Last summer the bookies had both Sven and Bob Bradley as odds on at various points.

Not that it's necessarily the biggest factor in all of this, but I don't think I've ever heard Rodgers, Martinez, Di Matteo or even Lambert for that matter make too many references to what they don't have.

I've had a bellyfull of managers on our payroll making thinly veiled digs about size of squads and needing to spend more -even when squads far inferior to ours (on paper) out perform them. It's happened as far back as O'Leary- in fact, it was probably JG who kicked the thing off.

Those first four work with what they have and get on with it, rather than believing the solution is always one more player or another spending spree.

In the case of Di Matteo, he worked under a DoF at the Olbiyun (not sure what the case is at Chelsea).  I think (though I can't be certain) that Martinez and Rodgers would be happy to work under (or in partnership with) a DoF.  Whereas Lambert -similar to MON- effectively IS the DoF, as his coaches do the tactics, training and so forth.  He oversees the whole thing. For that reason, he would perhaps find it more difficult to accept any input from a Comolli or similar.

Yes please. With some nice Claret & Blue ribbon. And make sure you do that curly thing to the ribbons with the scissors. That always looks lovely.

I wasn't necessarily saying we would get him. I just think, money aside (and if rumours are to be believed we may have saved some in McLeish's dismissal due to the 40 point clause), with a genuine long-term view, that he would be the best candidate for the job. Not the most 'gettable' or the most likely - that is probably Lambert.

God forbid anyone is seriously considering McCarthy, Bruce, Curbishley etc. After this year's disaster you would hope a lesson has been learned.

Di Matteo is starting to look a more attractive bet out at 20's. Might be worth a fiver.

Absolutely, it's such a small market that a couple of £50 bets destroy the odds as the bookies react to anything that might hurt them.

Vibrancy does not make Mick the Thick McCarthy come to mind. Nor does compelling football. It would make a mockery of their statements so far. No, no and more no. Holloway is more suitable!

Not a chance is it going to be McCarthy, I'm certain they've learnt.
