I don't think anything concrete will happen during the next two weeks.

Has to be sorted before the Euros. There is a lot to do and not much time to do it in.

I'm sure that we can whip ourselves into a frenzy long before any announcement is made.

I don't see it as necessary as we obviosuly have no games and the market is always slow before a summer tournament.

I'd like them to take their time and get it right, with the man here for early June.

I say relatively sharpish, so in the next few weeks.
And it is necessary as if we are looking for bargains in the transfer market (as most teams will of course) it's first come, first served.
Negotiations are already underway for a lot of players, you can guarantee it.

There is a shitload of work to do with this club for the new manager.

If Wigan had Darren Bent up top this season instead of Di Santo or Sammon do you guys really think they'd of been as bad in the early part of the season? Yeah those are the players Martinez signed. But lets be honest what kind of good quality player would want to join Wigan anyway as apposed to EVERYONE else in the Premier League? They have like 100 fans in away games ffs!

In the early part of the season Wigan were battering sides and losing having not put the ball away. I think with the chances his style of football creates, we would be pretty good.

Exacly Bent up top, Nzogbia on the right, Ireland slipping balls though and new LW with a Martinez team. Sounds pretty darn good to me.

N'Nogbia 2 goals all season, Ireland 1 goal all season........these guys are not players to build the team around, they just ain't good enough no matter who is manager.

Ireland, Bent and Zogbia have been woefully used in the last 12 months. A decent manager playing football and you would get 7-10 goals from Ireland and Zogbia, and 15-20 from Bent.

Admire your confidence in those players, that would be as many goals between them as we've scored all season....if the new manager has that effect, then he will be a genius

I think they'd like to get it sorted relatively soon, as they won't want it dragging on if they're working to a plan. Also they won't want a debacle like last summer. Hopefully Lerner and Faulkner have learnt harsh lessons from the last couple of years.

Not really, he just wont be a tentative twat and will get out of those players what is expected of them.

(that was in response to John Robson's sideburns by the way.)

Get the right man in, get the wrong-uns out, get the right players in and start laying a foundation for a whole new culture at this club. The sooner we do it, the fewer excuses there will be about settling in, or not having the right preparation. I recall Sir Graham mk 1 arrived in May and had a good pre-season to sniff out all the problems at the club and start putting them right. Our new man would benefit from the same.

Not really. NZogbia got 10 for Wigan, Ireland 13 in a season at City, Bent usually between 15 and 20. They are capable.

William Hill have got Emile Heskey at 66/1.  That's pretty similar to what he was on for first goalscorer this season.

It's not a million miles from his games/goals ratio either.

Why is there so much hate towards Faulkner? I honestly don't know enough about him to make any judgement

Just came across a decent article comparing Rodgers and Lambert.

http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/story/_/id/7497382/swansea-norwich-bring-much-more-geography-prem-michael-cox

The stats in there are very interesting and important. Norwich have a pretty low pass-completion rate (and for much of the season I believe only Blackburn and Stoke played more long balls). Now, I'm not knocking Lambert because, as the article says, he's a meticulous, intelligent, tactical manager who knows what he's doing and may well do great things in the game somewhere. However, I'm not entirely convinced his football would be a good fit for Villa. It seems like a development on MON-ball, albeit an intelligent one, and one a bit at odds with what the academy system - and we need to have a consistent football ideology running through the club, in my view.
