Reading that Lambert is not allowed to go above 15.000 a week in wages for any player got me wondering about some of these younger managers, with the bigger wages come bigger ego's so far they have had young ambitious players to control how will they fayre with players that have already built a reputation.

No to Owen Coyle.

Agree, we don't want another manager who's just relegated his present club!!

Not sure who I want. With a big transfer budget we'll get a big name I suppose, maybe even a Moyes type. With no money Kevin Mac will take over I should think with Sid as his oppo.

Either way I was hoping to switch off from Villa for a few months and get some work done. Oh well.

Also agree the board carry a huge weight with this decision. They simply have to get it right this time.

Ideally we need a sure-thing, as someone said - the equivalent of a BFR. A charismatic, been there and done it type.

Trouble is, I don't see a UK based manager that fits that criteria that would join Villa. (I'm thinking Fergie, Redknapp, Wenger, Moyes and O'Neill)

Which means we either look abroad, where you have understand we wouldn't be a draw to the top names (Mourinho, Van Gaal, Guardiola) so we would be looking to lesser people which introduces a risk (Benitez? Ranieri?  - insert your leftfield name here). Which leaves the likes  or you look to a younger guy with promise (Lambert, Rodgers, Martinez *spit*, Di Matteo).

So in conclusion, and this very much depends on your attitude to risk, I'd say Paul Lambert looks the best bet IMO.

Can you still do loads of kick ups??

I'm sorry, you have confused me with my brother the world famous ball juggling champion.

I just work in the laundry.

Running a successful chain of shops specialising in home care  & garden products at really competitive prices.
It's the home of family value.

It's got to be Martinez. Bring Moses too.

Moses on the right and a rejuvenated N'Zogbia on the left - look how Martinez got him playing for Wigan. Charles is a great player who was stifled by McLeish's negative defensive tactics.

How about MON and Randy patching up their differences, MON paying back his compo; agreeing to work within the constraints laid down by Randy and at the first home game of next season in front of a full house come running out to the dug out to a chorus of Dear Old Pals, Jolly Old Pals!  ;D

That scenario might even be above Pep in the hierarchy of nevergonnahappen

Oh! Mr. Woo, what shall I do
I’m feeling kind of Limehouse Chinese laundry blue
This funny feeling keeps round me ceiling
Oh won’t you throw your sweetheart over, do.
My best silk shawl, now it won’t fit my little brother
And my new Sunday shirt has got a perforated rudder
Mr. Woo, what shall I do
I’m feeling kind of Limehouse Chinese laundry blue

I'd say bring Martinez, but he can leave Moses at home. He's the kind of player who shows that Martinez is a good manager - pish, but made something by the right football and, probably, good motivation.

Andre Villa Boas (with Ray Wilkins?) or Rodgers would be my first choices.
I have no problem with Martinez or Lambert either although I have nagging doubts about them. Especially Lambert. I know he's good and done very well so far but a gut feeling says it wouldn't work as well as we'd hope and I have no other explanation for it.

It's not like the list ends there. Plenty of other potential options. DiMatteo, Flores, Benitez...etc.
Maybe even Capello, who knows.

I suppose it all depends on what Randy is planning to invest. That will determine or at least be a big factor in the outcome.

Now would be a good time to sell the club, no manager to pay off, deadwood leaving, our expectations were destroyed.

The statement yesterday reads to me that the Board have taken a lot of lessons on board from the last 2 years, recruitment, football, everything... that cannot afford to get it wrong in anyway with their next appointment, I'm not suggesting they'll totally listen to the fans, that's obviously not the best idea, but they need to get it right, and they'll be decisive enough to do this, with an appointment like Martinez, Lambert or even Mark Hughes?

Can I be the first to say how disappointed I am with the appointment of the new manager?

I'm underwhelmed.
