I don't understand the thought process though, that the club, who have appointed 2 managers from left field, when in truth 2nd time round there was a list as long as there are pillars under spaghetti junction that were better than who they went for, are suddenly going to appoint a manager with much higher ambitions than the club has. It is madness.

Logical thinking says Curbishley. Left field says Roeder and Clark might be a good shout. Dreamland they go for Lambert or Martinez again. Anyone above that calibre, is about as likely as I am to pilot the next moon landing.

You really need to top up your Prozac supply, Ozzjim. You're turning into a right miserable ******. *winky*

For me (non-member of the H&V Drama Queen Screaming Society), logical thinking says Lambert. I really expect nothing less.

Category A) Villas Boas
Category B) Lambert, Martinez, Rodgers.
Category C) DI Matteo
Category srapethebarrell: Curbishley et al.

Coaching a football team isn't rocket science.  The managers are only 50% of it, their coaches the other 50%. Anybody from the first 3 categories is fine with me so long as they have like-minded coaches.

I will also say that any one of those names above would be mental not to take the job if offered.  They will be paid as well as anybody else in a managerial position outside the champions league and have the makings of a good young squad to add to, a goal scorer and a top class keeper.  More than enough.  Villa is still a BIG job.

They need to drop this nonsensical "must have PL experience" thing they've gone with twice.

Look at it this way. AVB, after his disastrous period at Chelsea = a yes, as he's got PL experience, but AVB with no failure, shit loads of success at Porto, but no PL experience = a no-no.

It is a flawed strategy right from the start. With Houllier, it limited our pool of available managers. With McLeish it became "must have PL experience, even if that PL experience involves getting relegated in half the seasons you've managed in it".

Madness.

Picture this:

You wake up turn on Sky Sports news to see the glorious sight of the yellow breaking news line announcing McLeish has been sacked and AVB will be announced as our new manager at a press conference in an hour's time!

Pity the poor ticket office staff having to work 16 hour days trying to cope with the deluge of relieved fans desperate to get season tickets to make sure they can watch the rebirth oh the club, if only..........................................................................

I'll settle for the breaking news that Mcleish has been sacked. Pretty much anything from there with any sense to it is positive.

If we get AVB, he can leave that poxy little mac in London.  And sit on the bench like a normal manager, rather than crouching like a girl needing a piss at a pop concert by the side of the pitch.
