I'd be bloody ecstatic with AVB, but can't see it. It'd be nice if we made an attempt to get him though. I want a progressive, attacking manager with modern ideas and as long as they meet that criteria I don't mind who it is. We just need to make sure Mcleish is gone asap.

If there is any truth to the AVB rumour then it's a sign to me that there is money to spend this summer.  I just can't see him coming here to further trim our wagebill!

For me its Holloway or Martinez, would of liked hodgson but that ship has sailed...

AVB would be top choice but jsut cant see ti unless he wants to prove his worth in the EPL after chelsea dismissed him...

Problem is, even if he attends and interview the same stumbling block that hit benitez will happen...

No money

AVB?

Can't see it.

Bet Roman has him under some contract so he can't take another job yet, whilst being paid off.

It will be Roberto Di Matteo, appointed after 19th May when Chelsea dismiss him, Villa will move quickly to avoid McLeish doing us more harm! Watching reserves last night on MUTV and they said Mcleish trying to sign Karl Henry from Wolves!!!! I ask ya!

We might have one advantage if we go for AVB, as opposed to the likes of Valencia, Athletic etc: the chance to actually build something. The fact that it took so long for our board to realise McLeish wasn't the man for the job - and we're still merely hoping they've realised this! - displays their ability to stick by a manager and give him a chance to build something long-term. You could say "but if we've already sacked McLeish after one year would AVB really think we'd give him long-term?". Well, if he thought Abramovitch would, he'll believe Lerner!

We could definitely match offers from Valencia et al. However, we would have to give him some money to spend - if not the MON-era amount, then certainly more than last summer - and there is always the problem of Roma; if Roma want him, Roma will get him as they have this long-term project notion on us and then some. However, barring that, I think we'd stand a decent chance if we gave it a go.

And the worrying thing is, there is no one behind Mcleish who knows any better. can imagine Randy and Faulkner asking Mcleish "is Karl Henry any good Alex"

Just imagine if Chelsea did win the Euro Chumps but Di Matteo got sacked anyway.  One year getting an ex-blues boss that got them relegated, next year getting an ex-blues boss that made them European champions!

Just on Sky Sports that Slaven Bilic is quiting Croatia after the Euros. We might be seeing him holding a Villa scarf on the back pages at the end of June?

That would be absolutely great-I like how he plays football and how he speaks of the game. Good choice. Get him in

Club management is a different kettle of fish.
