The only way we are going to land a big fish to replace McLeish is Randy truly wants to have a proper dig at this again. If he says to himself, "fuck it let's give it a go", much like he did when he first came here then all bets are off and aside from the truly elite names, almost anyone is possible. Thing is, I don't think we'll be in a position to do that again for a good while. I get the impression Randy was bitten by MON, and he'll be reluctant to go down that road again any time soon.

Well that and the FFP rules kick in soon. We'll get punished for haemorrhaging money like we have been over the last few years.

the only thing about the FFP rules is that it is tied to revenue. Not money just spunked in by a wealthy owner. Mind you as Man City have shown there are ways around that too. As it relates to us, if you landed a bigger name manager, that drives optimism, which in itself generates revenue. One would hope we'll be winning again, and importantly, we'll be interesting again. Media and business gravitate towards things that encourage people to pay attention.

I'd love Lambert. He tick's all the boxes for me:-

1)Proven winner

2)Plays football the right way

3)Can win on a budget

4)Would see Villa as an opportunity, a step up,  not just a pay check.

I’m not sure Lambert’s football is the right way personally.  A bit too direct for my liking.

The tactics of Rodgers v Lambert are discussed here by Michael “goals are over-rated” Cox:

Point of order, I believe that 'goals are overrated' is a saying of Jonathan Wilson rather than Michael Cox.

I think the Ginger one will still be in charge at the start of next season, if only for a short while.Lambert has a good season, fair play, but has he got the pedigree to take Villa back up to the level we should be at?

Ouch.  I think you’re right there.  I apologies.

If he wasn't aware of fans' feelings by now, RL will have a rather nasty shock when he sees ST sales for next season if McLeish is still here.

There should be two spaces after a full stop.
