???

I think the key line from that interview is (to paraphrase)  "I like London blah blah, especially west London and my favourite colour is Blue"

OK..Maybe he can tolerate a bit of Claret. Sure, he will be looking for a London club..Chelski or even QPR..ha ha, if they stay up. We have to get someone with a bit of pedigree to restore pride to the Lions!

Capello might have been a vaguely realistic option had he been available in August 2010.  But I'm not sure a manager of that calibre would want to sign up for our austerity drive.

The Yanks have money again. I have been trying to sell a flat in London, without much succes,s to the borassic brits who make embarrassingly low offers, if at all..suddenly it is septic after septic coming to view. I am not far from Olympic Village..a 20min walk along the canal and they appear interested but no firm offer so far.
Ergo Randy might have a few spare bucks flying around if his Bank of America interests/problems are sorted? Just thinking out loud really.
Capello? No, I do not think so either.

still chris hughton for me. has inherited shambles and turned them around, playing good football. We arent going to have much money to spend and he is a good fit for the club.

lambert and rodgers are both gettable this summer. lambert walked out on colchester after one week of the season to take the norwich job. rodgers is an ambitious sort too but his stint at reading was worrying. How might he get on with players that werent able to play with the ball to feet. I dont see the attraction to martinez. I dont see a manager working miracles keeping wigan in the league barely each year with the likes of norwich and swansea comfortably staying in the league.

there isnt a hope AVB would come near us.

for what we need based on British based candidates, Lambert and Hughton are the strongest candidates.

It'd be interesting if we got hughton and he was received well. Would put a few misconceptions right about fans' reactions to mcleish

Capello has to be one of the greatest club managers of recent times. Ignore what happened with England, his strength is in club management and if there was the slightest chance of getting him, and I think there is, we should be on the phone on Monday morning.

Financially, like the UK, we can't just cut costs forever and watch our revenue decline. Randy needs to invest to start recouping from the black hole he now finds himself in. Whilst season ticket money may not account for much, TV revenue and League position prize money certainly do. We've become so dull we need to see Aston Villa back on the map and Capello could most certainly help.

He's already said that money is not his priority, he can still live in London if he wants and he'd probably be willing to take a two year contract, something Italian coaches are used to rather than the 3 year expected by your British manager. I can't see him going to Chelsea and he must know the Villa well, it's been one of his most frequently visited grounds whilst England manager. I'm sure he can see our potential and would be interested in the job.

I for one would be delighted to see what he could do at Villa Park and with his knowledge of players, it wouldn't automaticvally mean he only wants the top stars. I'm sure he'd be more than capable of finding a few gems within our budget. If Randy is looking for a trusty pair of hands, he should look no further than Capello. It's a complete no brainer.

Not a chance in hell that Capello would come here with our financial situation.
He'd want a sizeable transfer budget which is something we can't/won't provide.

Hence the comment about Randy needing to invest to resolve our financial problem.

I don't think he can afford to though, or more likely doesn't want to due to waning interest.

Ranieri maybe? Van Basten? Klinsmann, despite his love of living in America and being the national coach there at the moment? Is this being overly optimistic?

Whilst Capello, Van Basten etc would be great. I'd be happy with Martinez, Lambert or someone like that. Quite frankly provided it isn't Allardyce, Bruce, McCarthy or Pulis I'd be happy with anyone replacing this bloody idiot in charge.

I think Capello would be a disaster.  Just gut instinct.
