Is this the same Ian Holloway who said last season that Charlie Adam shouldnt join a 'small club like villa' when we was in for him?

No thanks, the championship is his level. Would Gordan Cowans be a bad shout? Been on the coaching staff for along time now, loves the club, has respect in the game, and if its good enough for Barcelona to appoint from within, why not us.

We're a half-arsed club that used to be famous, according to him.

about right at the moment

And even if we are, which we're not, why say it publicly? It's massively disrespectful and said while he choked on Dalglish's wang. The man is a sweaty fucking scrotum. He can fuck off.

Agreed, McLeish may be utterly out of his depth but at least he speaks with a bit of decorum, Holloway is a rent a gob, snotty nosed carrot cruncher.

All the best on Thursday though Ian, Gawd bless ya.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/wigan-roberto-martinez-can-leave-811215

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan will not stand in Roberto Martinez's way if the manager is offered a bigger job this summer.

Yesterday's stunning 4-0 win over Newcastle has Wigan on course to pull off another great escape from relegation trouble, and Whelan believes recent performances will have big clubs from around Europe eyeing up his Spanish boss.

And while he is not keen to see the 38-year-old leave, Whelan said he would accept Martinez's departure when it comes.

"He's doing a magnificent job," Whelan told Radio Five Live's Sportsweek. "I've always said Roberto will go to one of the top clubs in Europe and when that time comes he will leave Wigan with my blessing.

"He's just a brilliant manager and he will get one of the top jobs in Europe.

"I don't want to lose Roberto but it is inevitable he will climb the ladder."

At one stage this season, Wigan lost eight matches in a row, and seemed near certainties for the drop.

But yesterday's win put them three points clear of the drop zone going into their final two matches against fellow strugglers Blackburn and already-relegated Wolves.

Whelan insisted that even during the toughest times this season, he never had any doubts that Martinez was the right man to save them, and that the fans were on board too.

"(Managers) need support too," he said. "He got support from the chairman and he got support from the fans too. We've not had one fan crying for his dismissal and every fan in Wigan has been behind Roberto.

"Hopefully now we can stay in the Premier League for another season."

That'll be why I don't want him anywhere near Aston Villa.

He has got his team playing some superb stuff. That's like saying if Moyes wanted to be our manager we'd say no because he is consistently crap before Christmas. Martinez might just have taken time to get his philosophy and coaching to work, and he is now seeing the fruits of his labour. As opposed to McLeish who has just gotten worse and more conservative as the season as gone on.

I am not totally convinced by Martinez but you have to consider that he built the foundations at Swansea in terms of a football philosiphy, he has had to work with very limited resources at Wigan and keeping them up many times is an achievement.
Yes he turned us down, but that could be seen as a pretty wise move after what has transpired.

Any of the losing Championship play-off managers will fit Lerner's needs.  Ambitious & hungry.

Holloway or Mackay - yes please.  Allardyce - no thanks.

Hughton - a good manger, but once bitten...

Really wouldn't want Holloway.

Favour the link to Lambert.

why not Holloway,
bright atractive attacking football, stands up for whatever club he's at, doesnt talk absolute bullshit all the time with manager soundbites, has a good record with teams with a low budget

yes he is a big mouth, but i quite like that, i loved big Ron, rather that than a mealy mouthed Hughes

The mans a clown, talks nothing but shit....remember his comments about Charlie Adam, then there was his commitment to Plymouth when he abandoned (in his own words) his trust, loyalty and honesty in order to join Leicester.  They released a book in Bristol of all his own original 'soundbites' as he loved courting the press in Bristol.

I acknowledge that his Blackpool team played attacking football, but they got relegated as although they scored goals, the opposition would invariably score more!

Yep I agree with you - some people don't see the bigger picture. Wigan avoiding relegation playing good football with their squad is a huge achievement. Same goes for Swansea and to a lesser extent Naaaarrrwich. McLeish relegating Blues with their best squad in 50 years+ and bringing Villa to the mire with a midtable/top half squad is a Huge under achievement.

Martinez stock rises and could get a bigger if not better job in England and Spain

Holloway's a clown. VP's enough of a circus at the moment. We need some stability.

I would be happy with him.

I used to get annoyed at Atkinson & Gregory's 'entertaining' soundbites, especially after we'd lost. No way could I cope with Gollum's.
