I'm probably alone but I wouldn't mind Curbishley been given a go. I think he would work well with K Mac and the youngsters.

Sven, Rafa, Martinez, Holloway or Di Matteo (if he fails to get the Chelsea job) would also be decent appointments.

We need Villa men or people who 'get' the club involved
No we don't. We need competent people who 'get' football management.

Lambert would be a good choice for the simple fact that I believe he would do well.

That confidence would be shared across the fanbase, throw in twenty odd million and a six or seven new signings and the whole mindset of the club is changed.

Benitez is probably the best we can get in term of proven ability. But he's also a risk because he has a history of starting quarrels with his superiors.

Rodgers or Lambert are perceived as up-and-coming, both could probably do a decent job and also improve given time. But we don't know how good they are when they aren't riding high on the enthusiasm of newly-promoted teams.

I wasn't too keen on Martinez last summer, and he has already rejected us once. Also, I don't understand how his team can be so shit in the first 75 per cent of the season and so brilliant in the run-in. On the plus side it seems that he has spent this season figuring out how to organize a defence.

Sven's CV should put him into serious consideration, but he does appear to have gone stale, and my feeling is that he may not be up to day-to-day club management anymore.

Personally I'd like to us to go for an up-and-coming foreigner who is a bit more proven than Rodgers or Lambert, maybe AVB if he wants to come (allthough he could probably get a more attractive offer) or someone like Thomas Tuchel from Mainz.

If we settle for mediocricy like Holloway and Curbishley there may not be much point in sacking McLeish, except for removing the ill feelings.

Sven's CV should keep him out of consideration at all - if ever there was a manager who only went anywhere for the money it's him! He's done fuck all anywhere for years!

It's also telling that Benitez has been unemployed for so long!

I'm not averse to a foreigh manager, but somebody up and coming rather than one of these 'has beens' please.

So you're rejecting one because he accepts any job offer that comes his way, and the other because he is very picky?

Two of the managers on my wish list for B6 are in the studio for the Chelsea v QPR game.

Would they come though? Not in the championship for sure.

Probably? His voice alone would send me running for the hills. One of a huge swathe of average and over-rated British managers in the Premier League stretching back over donkeys years. I could do better than him
