I don't know why exactly but I'm slightly underwhelmed by Lambert.

Admittedly he'd be better than AM but that's not exactly difficult.

I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if Villa went for Fat Rafa.  No compo involved.  If they do sack Eck and his backroom staff and appoint Paul Lambert and his backroom staff, it'll cost another fortune.  Not saying it's what I'd want but Villa have embarrassed themselves with the amout of compo they've paid out recently!  Hopefully the austerity cuts have already been made once Cuellar, Heskey and Guzan leave in the summer and the new Manager has a few quid to spend, minus the compo money, of course.

i think we are singing of the same page Monty,
but we dont get to make the decision, i just hope Randy and the board have leant from there mistakes the last time and bring someone in who can be positive, and have a clear direction and plan, even if it takes a while, thats all i ask

To quote Charlie Nicholas on Only an Excuse, we're singin' aff the same broadsheet. If you have a spare £100m I'd be willing to help front a consortium for a buyout. I'd work for free as well.

problem is we would have a team playing snob football,
we would think its great, seeing all the pretty patterns and changes in formations to suit requirments, the great technique of the players, and the artistry of players running of the ball

but we wouldnt win anything

Not necessarily. I'd certainly get impatient and go all Romanov on failed managers, sacking until we strike lucky. Deadly Doug? Try Mental Monty.

In any case (and to return to some semblance of seriousness), anyone who could get Villa to a place of entertaining without winning anything (except for, obviously, some games) would be very welcome at VP right now. We're starting from a very low ebb indeed.

We might win more matches.

We'd win more with almost anyone in charge to be fair. Like I say, very low starting point.

I like Martinez but I think he is getting overhyped.

Remember we are above Wigan in the league.

Lambert would be a decent choice I think, from what I've seen of Norwich they're very focused on getting wide and piling crosses into the box.

Given the training this would lead to I think a number of our players would benefit.  We'd need a big man up top though, and probably another wide player or 2.  I think Albrighton would shine and, judging on youth and reserve games, so would Gardner (he'd be encouraged to make late bursts into the box I think) .  On top of that as I understand it we have some pretty special looking young wide players.  He has a battling midfielder sit deep to cover the fullbacks as well which Herd could be good for.

I think we've seen quite enough of that, certainly enough to prove it has it's limitations even after £200m spent.

Yeah, and he's a bit too foreign for my liking.

Get Steve Bruce in, I say. Him or Sammy Lee.

Yeah I know but if you think about it Wigan have been poor for most of the season.

They have been great recently but the season lasts for 38 games.

Also Wigan are an established Premier League club now but they have been outperformed by newcomers Norwich and Swansea.

I like Lambert . He is 2012 1980s team .    Get the crosses in and pile it in . On the floor or direct , whatever It takes to win .

He loves to win , whoever he is playing .     Goes Mardi If he loses , even if its Manure away . He is a winner.

Another vote for Lambert - reminds me of O'Neill without the pomp and circumstance.
