Have to say MF, when you suggested RDM, i laughed at the thought of it, but having watched Chelsk last night, and the way they were set up, and more importantly the way the team knew how to exploit Barcas weakness was very impressive and your suggestion quite logical.

That assumes of course that Chelsk keep acting in their jumped up way and have to go for "a name", thus allowing RDM to apply for the upcoming vacancy at VP.

Would'nt be against the idea tbh.

I'm certain they'll get rid of him, the only chance he has is if he does the near impossible of winning the Champions League.
I can see them getting beat about 3-0 at Barcelona and then the Ruski will intensify a search for a big name.

I really think DiMatteo could offer a lot to us.

I'd take RDM in a flash, but then I'm pretty fucking desperate

And Bella, seriously though he knows his football and I have always thought if he had stayed with BFR we would have won the league that year.

The one thing i'd have against Di Matteo is my best mate is a Baggie and he said the word was the main reason they got rid of him wasn't the bad run they were on, it was the fact that he kept sniffing around other jobs behind their backs.

Do we want someone who will be trying to bugger off in 6 or 12 months meaning we have to go through the whole manager search again?

Was impressed with Di Matteo at the Olbiyun, thought he was one to watch out for.  Was very surprised when he was given the bullet.

Wouldn't be against the idea at all, but now that he's managed Chelsea dealing with some of our shithouses who struggle to even trap a ball might be a bit of a comedown.

If he does well there, I expect he'll be looking for a club that can at least offer European football (more likely CL). He'd get no shortage of offers in his homeland and might even be offered mental money by some of Roman's mates in Russia.

he was quite succesfull at MK Dons,
but word around here had it that he was a bit lazy, left an awful lot of the coaching to the backroom staf, not as bad as Ince though, he could rarely be bothered to turn up at training

depends who the backroom staff are i suppose, in our case we should be OK

Paul Lambert would be my choice.  But would he come here?  Doubt it very much - how times change.

Lambert has done exceptionally well at Norwich, but his methods still seem a bit 'old school.'

Nowt necessarily wrong with that, if it works it works.

I defy anyone to say that they didn't enjoy our football in 2007/08, when we bagged 70+  goals in the league.  A large chunk of those were from set pieces and crosses from open play.  But there was nearly always excitement, and we looked like we had goals in us regardless of the opposition.

The bit I've seen of Norwich  (admittedly not loads) they seem to rely a lot on crosses from out wide and Holt knocking them in.

Next manager (whoever he is - and whenever that vacancy occurs)  provides us with an opportunity to move with the times.  To lay the foundations for a more progressive style of play. I hope we take that opportunity, so -for me- that would mean giving Lambert the swerve.

Completely agree, KG. Horses for courses and all that, and I think the last thing we need is more MONball.

It was a bold move to bring in GH last year especially as he had to work with players so out of touch with his brand of football and no way of replacing them until January. He tried to get them to play and although it was not working we should have persevered with it and brought in a manager to carry this on.

Why go down the route we did last summer I'll never know.

Lambert would never work.

When would a manager from Norwich City ever have success at the Villa?
