I repeat it's the approach of the manager towards a passing and entertaining game, more than who that man is. We desperately need a manager in touch with the modern possesion based game.
Somebody who can teach how to pass and move and who doesn't make players stay rigidly within their set zones.

Essentially that yes. It would also help if he has a pair and is prepared to try and beat the 'elite' clubs.

Martinez would do a great job for you - he plays good football and is on the verge of performing a miracle in keeping Wigan up.

Had you gone for him in the summer when it was first rumoured I honestly think you'd be top ten by now.

To be honest unless Wigan go down I can't see Martinez wanting to come to us, and it looks like they're staying up given their recent form.

We did go for him in the summer, but he didn't want to leave Whelan.

We are still a bigger club than Wigan , I think he would come here now.In fact should he keep Wigan up giving the plaudits they are currently getting now is the time to leave.

Singalong:  "Niall Quninn’s disco pant are the best, they go right from his arse to his Ch-est, they are better than adam and the ants, NIALL QUINN’S disco pants”

I’m not convinced by Martinez (yet), basically I think people have really short memories in football and he is flavour of the month after his recent results against ManU, Arse, Liverpool and almost Chelsea.  The fact is those results must be hiding some real shockers elsewhere as they still below us despite those “bonus" 9 points.

To be fair, he didn't come in the summer and if anything things are much worse for us now than they were though. Though I will agree that he surely must realise that he's done all he can with Wigan and that it's time to pack up and move on.

He also managed to engineer a nice pay rise out of Whelan from the whole affair so there is a chance that he’d consider it job done with Wigan and look elsewhere.

I truly, truly hope so.

How about Brian Mcdermott - Reading

seems to conduct himself very well in front of the media - has sold his best player and worked within a tight budget and has still managed to get his club playing attacking, exciting and winning football.

Very affordable and I'm sure he'd see us as a very attractive proposition

The only problem I can see with Lambert is the fact that Reading are almost definitely destined for promotion this season, and I wouldn't bet on him leaving the team he's just got promoted. In 2-3 years? Maybe. Very good manager though like you say.

I'm not suggesting this, but I just read a VERY interesting article on [the success] of one Paulo DiCanio.
(that'll put the cat among the pigeons - I've lit the blue touch - paper - now stand back !!)  ;D

In the Championship there is McDermott, Hughton, Poyet and Atkins.  They’re all good young managers who I understand play attractive football.  They will not all get promoted so whoever stays in the Championship would be a viable option.  However I’d prefer it if they were supported by a director of football.

In summer Martinez looked a bad option now I think he would get people hanging around Villa Park celebrating his arrival..or just sheer jubilation to rid the club of Mcliesh and Grant !!
