I'd give it Southgate.

I want someone who's got some feeling for the club.

Whaaaaat?
The bloke who had to get away to play European football and then joined Middlesbrough???

If you were a friend of Alex Ferguson's, you'd know exactly who the next Villa Manager will be.

Clearly he's the Kingmaker.

Paul Ince.     Or Darren Ferguson.

Really?  I thought I was the only person that thinks he has potential.

Personally I’d appoint him in a role that mirrors his role for the FA - elite training and development (of young players and coaches) as I think he is an intelligent and driven individual who’d happily study the game but maybe lacks the charisma required to be manager.

Therefore we’d need a young manager who is good at motivation but yet willing to sign up to Villa’s (TBC) football philosophy.

My friend lived in Plymouth and went to the same gym that the Plymouth players used.

He said Holloway was an absolute joke and did not have a clue.  I appreciate that there is more to football than the science side but I’d want a manager that if he couldn’t do something then he would delegate it to someone else, or try and learn more about it.

In short Holloway is too old school for me and I do not think he could run the whole club in the manner than we need.

With regards to Di Canio.  There is no way I want a racist associated with the club.

Agreed on Di Canio.

With regards to Holloway - any fun details? Always like a good "gobby twat is incompetent" story.
is di canio a racist? or just a supporter of a club with a fascist supporting element?
are lazio the first fascist club and also first racist club? do they advertise that?

Also a guy that insisted on having pictures of the European Cup winners in the dressing room as he felt that was where the club should be aiming.

Bloody hell I hadn't even considered Benitez. Gimme gimme gimme.

Benitez sounds unlikely as we rejected him last summer. Admittedly he could have been a cheaper option than McLeish as he was out of a job, but it's well worth paying a little extra to get a man with two recent relegations on his CV rather than a man with two recent CL finals.

He indulged in the facist salute after one of Lazio's home games.
He also described him self as a facist and an admirer of Mussolini.

I've been to a couple of Lazio games, their fans are right wing and mental, they're a bit like the Dog shit supporters in that they're obsessed with their rivals (Roma).

The last time I went it was just after Manure had stuffed Roma 7-1.

There were loads of them walking round with Manure replica tops on or T-shirts celebrating the rout.

I don't remember hearing that we rejected Benitez? Where are you hearing that from?

No specifics.  The Plymouth Albion rugby team also used the gym and he said that the rugby players would be following specific tailored programmes whereas Holloway just told the player to sit on the bikes for a bit (presumably so he could slide a whoopee cushion onto the seat).

My mate played a bit of rugby and also studied sports science so he’d have an idea of what the players should have been doing.  He said the Rugby players could not believe how amateur the football players were.

Got this from Vital Villa.  Apparently two bookies are taking the odds for the next Villa manager.

Here's the Top 10 candidates according to Victor Chandler and Stan James -

Victor Chandler -

Benitez - 8/1
Curbishley - 10/1
MacDonald - 12/1
Solksjaer - 12/1
Martinez - 12/1
Bruce - 12/1
Moyes - 14/1
McCarthy - 14/1
Lambert - 14/1
Rodgers - 16/1

Stan James -

Benitez - 3/1
Curbishley - 6/1
Bruce - 8/1
MacDonald - 10/1
Solksjaer - 10/1
Martinez - 10/1
Moyes - 10/1
McCarthy - 12/1
Lambert - 12/1
Keane - 12/1

http://www.astonvilla.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=7511872

from that list i'd be tempted to take a chance with the fella Victor Chandler maybe with Stan James as his no 2,
dont know to much about them but worth a try

If we're planning long term with a young manager. I wouldnt be against Southgate. I know it's a gamble but he's young, hungry and since his time at Boro has done significant development work. He driven and an ambitious guy so given our current plight, he might just be the guy to build something!
