If the club had any ambition they would be looking at Moyes' reaction after the cup game. Now there is a guy who's gone as far as he can at Everton and needs a new challenge, and if there was ever a time to get him it would be this summer. Unfortunately the club hasn't any ambition...

It's unfair to say that when we pretty much know we went for him before, at a time when, if your reading of his body language is correct, getting him out of Goodison would have been harder.

But, unless Randy is going to free up funds again, why would he take the job?

well quite. I don't think it would take massive transfer funds  to temp him just more than Everton. Sadly he's never going to come here for the same scenario.

Kendrick only knows what the club want him to know- im sure if randy had plans to sack mcleish he wouldnt be tipping off the press about it- we can only hope faulkner goes as well as mcleish.

I keep hearing from so called in the knows thst mcleish will not be here next season- lets hope they are correct!

Let's just hope its not MM who was 100% certain that Mccleish wasn't gonna join us.

Holloway ? Are you serious ?

Lambert please

Surely Lambert is this years Holloway, or is he 2012's Phil Brown. I can never keep up with the latest flavour of the month.

We need a long term vision, not another 'he's done okay hasn't he!!' choice. I have no bloody clue who that is, but they had better get it right this time around, or one of the best crops of young talent that we've produced in some time will go down the gurgler.

In fairness it was a blemish on his otherwise very good record.

Anyway, I hope he gets another blemish soon, as he's certain that McLeish isn't going anywhere.

Martin Jol is the one for me. Or maybe Benitez. A big name of some sort to bring some good feeling back to the club next year, and for us to show a bit of ambition again

Benitez and moyes would be the choices if we had money to spend but with little finance we need to lower our sights and lambert or mcdermott, adkins would be interesting choices.

Benitez was not interested the first time around, why would he want to come now? Jol is building a decent legacy at Fulham right now, there's not a chance of him leaving that to join us.

he will be off to white hart lane in the summer I reckon.

If Lerner decided to open his chequebook again there would be plenty of interest in the job no matter how low an ebb we are at now. Even if he throws a reasonable amount at a new manager there will be better than Alex McLeish interested.

yeah i can see him going to spurs as well if their knobhead fans are willing to give him a chance - they're probably expecting Mourinhio though. I just think with a reasonable budget we could tempt him and he wouldn't have the problem of following a successful manager here either

I heard from 2 different people that lambert is coming to villa , one from somebody who is connected to a football club and someone who works in football finance.

Probably bullshit but please be true

If we do find that we have a vacancy then I would list the realistic options as:

Martinez - whether Wigan stay up or not.
Di - Matteo - doubt he would keep the Chelsea job no matter what they achieve this season
Curbishley - seen as a safe pair of hands - although possibly too much in the AM mould - see also S. Bruce & M. McCarthy
Bob Bradley - because he's American

I'd like it to be a foreign coach who has a good record with youngsters and plays an exciting and swashbuckling style of football. There must be one out there.

Don't want Holloway after he insulted our club.

you might not like what he said, but he was spot on in my view, thats exactly where we are, and we need someone who is going to come in and say 'this place stinks, and i'm gona change it' pull no punches

Good point.  This is what Graham Taylor did when he took over Villa after we were relegated.  We can only hope history won't repeat itself relegation wise.

I thinik Lambert is different to those two.

Holloway bounced around the lower divisions for a while and then hit a good run with Blackpool, but couldn't keep them up.  Similar with Brown, although they escaped the one season only and then went down.

Lambert had a poor time at Livingston, but then did well with Wtcombe and Colchester, before leading Norwich to two promotions and PL safety.  I'm also impessed with him doing his badges in Germany, showing a well thought out approach.
