Warley, I like him a lot more than I like you.

Yes, WW. Let's get Pep Guardiola. Good idea, nobody had thought of wanting Pep Guardiola as manager, but thanks for enlightening us.

Do I detect a hint of "very bad sarcasm" there??

You absolutely do. Sarcasm is never particularly witty, and when trying to get the point across via the Internetz, it has to become even less subtle.

I personally love sarcasm but it has to be good not mediocre a bit like the manager we currently have.

That's the most tenuous, pathetic, obsessively-minded excuse for a segue into an attempted analogous point I have ever seen or heard. And no, I'm not being sarcastic.

Are you sure?  Do you like AM? Are you in his fanclub?

Warley, as I put on the Books thread before it was quite rightly deleted, your obsession with McLeish and posting something vitriolic at every opportunity ticks several boxes in the Hare Checklist as detailed in the excellent The Psycopath Test by Jon Ronson.
You'd make a great case study.

To be honest we've been too 'nice' in the past, football is a pretty nasty industry and unfortunately we need to keep up. If approaching Norwich about Lambert while Mcleish is still in situe is required then so be it, provided we approach Norwich first rather than Lambert himself.

That's generally not how it works nowadays.   Most clubs establish an interest via third parties - to make sure the guy even wants the thing-  before making prats of themselves and going in with an official approach.

Not us though, obviously.

Fair enough, but either way I think we need to get a lot more ruthless and smart about how we approach things.

Someone's accused me of being in a McLeish fanclub. I think my work here may be done.

You can talk, you were overjoyed when he joined saying 'he'll be the next Ron Saunders.'

I remember Warley saying that, too.

The most amazing thing is the way he's done a total about turn, the hypocrite.

Just listening to Lambert's press conference and he was asked about the Villa link.

"Unfair to even comment on it/ I can do nothing about those links."  and "Disrespectful,"   to the current manager.

And no time did he say he wouldn't take the job if offered though.

I remember him saying that he had his bedroom plastered in Big 'Eck posters, and a tattoo of him on his leg.

My, he's changed his tune.

I think the HGV/ Formula 1 driver is a decent analogy to what I was getting at with Guardiola. He has produced the best footballing side in my lifetime, and he is a genius for the way he has bought them together as a team, but would never be able to replicate that anywhere else because they have probably 10 of the best 20 players in world football right now, most of the side that have won the last 2 major international tournaments and the best player on the planet, that will go down in the history of the game with the likes of Pele. If I were him, I would not take another club job, probably ever.
