I actually think Guardiola would a disaster, and would really struggle. He has just been managing the most cohesive and talented group of players ever, in their peak. He may return to management but I am not so sure, and if he does I would imagine Spain would be the next stop.

Lambert looks a very solid choice to me if true, and one that more mirrors Moyes than Eck ever did. Maybe the timing is better this summer for him than last too, but I do hope we get him or someone of his ilk.

I'm sorry, that may be true of many coaches who struggle to replicate their successes and ideals elsewhere, but the idea that Lambert would do a better job than Guardiola is nonsensical to me.

In terms of sheer playing on the pitch maybe, but in order to get to that you have to navigate the transfer market much lower down the scale than Pep is used to, plus manage some difficult characters out of the club.

Not saying you're wrong, but an F1 driver might not make the best HGV driver.

Oh I agree with that, it just strikes me that Guardiola's level of attention to detail, footballing intelligence, natural leadership, linguistic skills and all the rest of it make Guardiola an exception to that very good rule.

Yes, WW. Let's get Pep Guardiola. Good idea, nobody had thought of wanting Pep Guardiola as manager, but thanks for enlightening us.

Do I detect a hint of "very bad sarcasm" there??

You absolutely do. Sarcasm is never particularly witty, and when trying to get the point across via the Internetz, it has to become even less subtle.

Not true, sarcasm is ace.
Especially when dimwits struggle with it. It can be quite entertaining.

One problem if Lambert is in the frame - he'd probably only come to us if we're in the Premier League.  Which means his players might have an incentive to beat us, so they don't lose him.

I don't really agree with that. Doug enticed the up and coming Sir Graham from Watford after we went down. We are still a massive club and it only takes the right character to recognise what we could be given the right direction as opposed to what we are. We are like a once impressive house with broken windows and a door that is falling off. Some buyers wouldn't give us a second look, but the astute buyer understands the potential that some renovations would do to its value.

I personally love sarcasm but it has to be good not mediocre a bit like the manager we currently have.

That's the most tenuous, pathetic, obsessively-minded excuse for a segue into an attempted analogous point I have ever seen or heard. And no, I'm not being sarcastic.
