Randy's money went to paying off the ex-wife. By all accounts, she really took him to the wall when they broke up.

nah, its like i said before AM got the boot. We're gonna struggle to attract Lambert or Rodgers unless we offer them more chance than they have now. Why be skint at Villa and get hammered if you struggle, when you can be skint at Swansea/Norwich and be praised? My hope was the transfer purse strings would be opened but it doesn't look like it so far. They may be ambitious but they want a decent chance to be a success as well.

We have no idea what funds are available. At our most skint we spent 20 million last summer, I reckon we would give the new man a minimum of 20 million again this with how weak we are and where we finished.

yeah but we didn't really did we. we spent 20m and lerner pocketed 20m from the sales of young and Downing. Unless we sell someone i doubt they'll be 20m this year

Yes he pocketed that money didn't he greg?!

well its gone somewhere whether on keeping us afloat or on paying back the loans. Last summer the entire transfer budget was funded by sales. Who do we sell this year?

Maybe the guy who has ploughed in 200million plus will put in again. Fees were never the issue, loading the wages on were the issue. Hopefully with those out on a free, plus those we can sell in Warnock, Collins etc, then we can rebuild with younger players on less wages.

I think they'd be interested in doubling their salaries for a start!

not if its their last decent paid job. Mcleish was well paid but he's pretty much finished earning big money now but then he had years at Rangers. If they have a 'mare with us they may never get to that level again. As people have said before, not many go on and do better after leaving us, more likely end up like DOL. Its a big risk if you don't think you've got the money to compete and want a long term career over next season.

I'll take Lambert at this point. People may bring up O Neill comparisons. I think he's got more potential though. He has a plan B, and eye for picking up good lower league players, and it would seem, doesn't have the same ego. The football style brings up similarities again, but we did enjoy some good stuff under Martin. Lambert can get his sides playing it nicely along the floor when needs be. So yep, bring it on. It comes with a certain level of certainty compared to OGS, and is the safer bet. Much as I'd have like the mystery taking such an gamble on OGS, I'm not adverse to the comfort of a solid mid-table finish, with the possibility of nabbing 7th or 8th.

Martinez isn't likely to join us. I'd welcome him too. Same with Rodger.

I get the feeling we could still end up missing all our targets then scraping the barrell on someone like McCarthy or Curbishley. That's what happened last year.
If we can't get a decent young manager, I'd rather give the job to K Mac and/or Sid for a year, or until someone else becomes available. I think it'd be better to stick within the club as opposed to some plodder who'll probably relegate us.

That press conference Lambert did last night put me off him even more. It's no wonder the media don't get on with him - it would be another Dalglish looking like an arse. That would reflect on us.

I think kmac would probably relegate us , bit harsh branding curbishley with mccarthy ,but i agree we should go all out and try to tempt lambert .

I still think we'd win more games with Mac and Sid running things, that McCarthy, or McLeish for that matter. Ideal world though, we'll get one of our preferred choices and won't have to worry about it.

At this point I don't think we are going to get anyone in the poll above. Our stock has absolutely plummeted. No ones going to leave the stability of their previous club to sort out our mess. We are going to end up unhappy and with a really crap manager. The likes of Holloway, McCoist, Phil Brown.. that's who we'll end up with.

No ambition to find a proper manager.. just the hope we can coast along and be 'okay' for the next few years.

It's not going to get any better for the B6.

Most of the players want kmac because hes friendly with them , they see him as a nice guy , not the sort to clear them out, the games against newcastle , everton and stoke under him were dreadful, everton battered us and lost 1-0 and newcastle battered us 6-0, and thats with players supposedly wanting him to get the job at the time.

We need a new broome in the place and the club needs a lift , i dont see kmac as that man , good in the job he holds but not a premier manager in my view. I think we would struggle badly if he was in charge.

FFS why all the shroud waving? We have not offered anyone the gig yet . Its only a week since TSM went. If it were the begining of July I'd feel concerned but not yet.
