Stan. He was our most consistent every game. Even with all the drek results and performances, Stan always gave his all and was normally our best midfielder in most of the games he played. I felt sorry for him during many games because he was really trying to get a foot hold for us but with very little help. In part down to awful team selections and poor tactics.

Young player, Herd.

Irelands had a fair season, nothing more. For me, I'm delighted that he's showing glimpses of his class and he's putting in plenty of effort, but we're still only seeing glimpses. I want to see him play well over 90 minutes. Generally he'll have a decent 20-30 minutes spell and then be pretty quiet.
But...in fairness to crazy Stephen, we're set out in such a piss awful way by the manager, that flair players are going to really struggle. In that respect, he has done well to instigate as much play as he has already. Still, we do need more from him.
Overall though, I'd say Petrov and Herd have had 7/10 seasons. Given and Ireland 6-7 at a push. The rest 6 and below (most around 4, and that's generous.). I can't really count Robbie.

I think, regardless of him being player of the year or not, that next season we will be voting for Ireland in droves. He is now showing what he can do and his attitudw is spot on. Once the rest of the team is reading him we will see the results.
Player of the year for me this year so far would be Petrov, with Ireland and Given (apart from a lack of dominance) close behind. Defo Chris Herd for young player, great attitude, and ever improving.

Personally I hope we can get a manager who can get us playing some more adventurous footy, and see even more from Ireland. If we do, he'll start to deliver the goals he did for Man City under Hughes.

I have preferred Clark as our holding player to Herd, thought he showed a touch of class in there.  I'd have him over Herd as YPOTY, Collins would be runner up to Petrov for POTY, mainly due to recent form and nicking a couple of goals.

I feel Herd has more bite than Clark. Clark has great elegance and poise and I think he's a leader. But in a season of struggle like the one we've been going through, I'd rather go into battle with a Herd.

Where is Clark's best position? He had some brilliant games in midfield then faded badly. Maybe he'd operate best as a cultured defender alongside a meat and potatoes style stopper?

I would actually go for Warnock - has had some shocking games and had had the crowd on his back almost all year - but ability aside he has never gave less than everything for the cause when it could easily have been that he sulked off into a corner - so fair fucks to him

Not as daft as it seems, we all like a trier and he's always given it 100% despite being in pretty poor form. He was given a massive round of applause when going off yesterday.

I'd go for Robbie Keane,  showed some real class and leadership in his few games and it would send a message that we are not happy bunnies.

Petrov. Given probably second. Of the youngsters, Herd has been the standout performer.

Don't think Herd's been more than tidy. If he was a senior pro it'd be a decent deason, no more. Given hasn't made many mistakes, and Petrov's always put a shift in.

Special mention for Warnock. Though he's had more shockers than the MEB he's never hidden during games (hello Jlloyd) and has always put his body on the line. The shockers were spectacularly shocking though.

Terrible selection to make, but I'd give it to Ireland, though that's partly for the "idea" of Ireland - i.e. finally seeing something like the player we thought we were getting. If we had a something like a manager to trust I could see us building a very good side around him. So Ireland.

Bollocks.

So the front runners are Given who has been ok, Petrov for an average season, Gabby for a couple of good months, ireland who didn't turn up until the new year, Herd who has been in and out of the team and steady but unspectacular, Warnock who has been a car crash or Keane who was here for five minutes?

And people wonder why we have been bitching about our season?

All sentiment aside, my vote goes to Petrov.

Runner-up Gabby, for the 'couple of good months' that will probably keep us up.
