I'd say it's close between Ireland and Petrov, but I'd give it to Petrov. Ireland has been very good in a very poor side.

See I was thinking Herd, as he's done quite well. But if he's to be considered a player of the season candidate, it's an indictment of how little we've done. That's not a reflection on him, as I say he's done well but just our current plight.

The top three for me would be Given, Petrov and Herd in that order. I am surprised at all the votes for Ireland. I accept he is always looking to create something and often looks the most likely to but how consistantly has there been an end product? It says everything about our season that players like Keane and Weimann will get votes despite playing relatively few games.

I have preferred Clark as our holding player to Herd, thought he showed a touch of class in there.  I'd have him over Herd as YPOTY, Collins would be runner up to Petrov for POTY, mainly due to recent form and nicking a couple of goals.

Ireland has supplied chances to others and was instrumental in our best result of the season. Also he has run himself into the ground.

Herd. For me the only player to play to their full potential for most of the season. Heart however says Stan should get it, with Herd YPOTY.

Am I the only one depressed at how many votes Ireland is getting? Yes he's improved and starting to look a real player but 10 complete league games, 1 goal, 3 assists isn't POTY material to me, no matter how wank the season has been.

With all sentiment aside our most consistent performer this season has been Stilyan Petrov.
Agree.
I'm a big fan of Stylian anyhow so he'd have got my vote come what may, he was having a great season,
Also Herd for young player, think he's been brilliant.

What was he like at the presentation, did it appear to mean something to him?

He was pleasant enough.  Almost shy actually, in so far as he wasn't sure what to do. He didn't know how to spell my name, either.

It was great being in the tunnel when the players were coming and going on to the pitch pre match.

Irelands having a great final 3rd of the season, hasn't been good enough throughout for me though.
Personally I can't believe the number for Given.
Yes, made some great, world class even, saves. But I feel he's also cost us several too

Actually it reminds me a bit of the season when we voted Berson as player of the year
