I wanted to get a support Stan tshirt on the way to the game yesterday. So I popped into the club shop on Witton Lane, under the Holte Pub.
Should I really have been surprised when they told me that they don't stock them in there ?

Our club is a fucking shambles.

Get well soon Stan.

Does anyone think a half-and-half Villa/Bulgaria scarf would be a good idea to suggest to the club?

It's a small shop with limited space so I suppose they only stock the best-selling stuff.

But its (another) missed opportunity.
How many thousands of people pass that shop going into the Holte or the Witton Lane stands ?
I would expect that most do not want to traipse all the way down to the other end of the ground to queue on a match day.
Surely, its not TOO difficult to move a few hundred t shirts into the shop on Saturday morning, then whatever is not sold take them back the the main shop on Saturday night.
A pile of tshirts is not going to take much space, they don't need to hang them out or display them, people know what they are.
Judging by the reaction of the guy in the shop on Saturday, I was not the only one who went in there for a shirt.

Its not rocket science !!!

Check out some of the small minded, bitter twats on this thread

Not so much the fact they chose not to clap, but some of their reasoning.

Fuck me that's vile. It's a guy who plays for a club whose fans are making a gesture to him every game until the end of the season. And they call us "Scouse-wannabe grief merchants". Well go fuck yourselves. It's not about the fact that it's Villa, it's about the guy who's getting some support from people associated with the same professional organisation as him. Grow the fuck up, you small-minded, insular, oxygen-wasting perspective-vacuums.

Apparently we were "hounding him out" until he got sick, too.

Well, for a start, even if that were true, who cares? Some were saying that he wasn't good enough for us any more (some never thought he was, which I disagree with), but that's completely incidental. He's our player, the fact that he's the club captain may make a small amount of difference but it shouldn't really, he's a player at our club, a human being, who has been diagnosed with a very serious illness. If it were a reserve player we'd be giving him tributes every game. Quite apart from which, most people thought he was playing well this season anyway.

What a lovely bunch. Well said, Monty.

Thanks. As you may be able to tell, this has wound me up somewhat.

They really are fucking scum. I'd have applauded a Baggie in the same circumstances (maybe not if it was Brown or Hughes) just as I did for Muamba on Tues.

As for the "I had no idea they did it" argument. Do they all live in caves or something? I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned occasionally in the media.

It's about the game of football sticking together, whatever the club, whatever the player,it's about every player and supporter getting behind any player or manager going through hell.We are the football community and we stick by everyone involved in this community!Nuff said.

When the Albion fan who received CPR in the stand during the game was stretched out we Villa fans clapped him as a sign of respect.  (I know a few sang 'let him die' before that)
