Does anybody know if one week is a long time to wait between having leukaemia and it being treated? If he was feeling unwell last Saturday and he's catching a train to London today, then that's one week. Is that a long time or a short time, in terms of leukaemia? Sorry if that's a stupid question.

Went to his debut at West Ham when he was the best player on the pitch, had his name printed on my Villa top.  Whatever anybody says about him as a player, there is no doubt that he, as a man, has always treated this club, and the game, with the utmost respect.  Get well soon Stan, we are ALL behind you.  Deeply upset.  Call the Chelsea game off asap.

Absolutely gobsmacked! It's not often you hear news which is so far off the spectrum of what you'd expect that it leaves you speechless.

Just hope & pray that the combination of Stan's fitness, fighting spirit & good treatment will see him win this battle. I'm convinced that there is no one more capable of overcoming this than Stan.

Tomorrow and for the next few weeks we need to get behind everyone connected to our club & in particular pray for Stan & his family. UTV

Along with Gabby, Stan has been my favourite Villa player for 4/5 years and is a model professional.

Spot on.
As I've said before it's difficult to assess how important he's been to us until he's absent from the pitch. He will be missed - but more importantly here's hoping for a speedy recovery.
Incidentally, I think the club's press release was very well crafted.

Only cite the below link as it contains such touching comments, especially from the Celtic camp.

I only heard about half hour ago and haven't had chance to read anything yet. I know it's not the time to speculate, but how serious is it?

From what I've read it is life-threatening, is that accurate?
