On a side note, I know Carts has opened in T20 and Pro40 stuff, but I definitely think he has opened in CC cricket; again a run chase with him at 1 or 2. I will try and find out...

He may have done, but this wasn't a run chase against the clock, we had a day and a half to get 250 odd, seemed strange to open with Carter.
Hey ho, we won, so who cares!

He has definitely opened on a few occasions over the past few years.  I haven't been a member for about 4/5 years now, but remember him being slotted in on more than one occasion at the top of the order.

I think the idea is to "lengthen the batting order", stick him in at the top with carte blanche to have a dig in the hope that he gets a quick 30/40 to bring the target down.  You then have all the specialist batters one place lower than normal, thus giving the impression of a long batting line up.

I guess he got a few, so it worked in a way, but then again it didn't because we had to rely on Jeetan to knock off a quick 40 odd to win.

Good start though and never can complain at beating Zummerset.

Oh right! Obviously I'm not a member but I do go to a few days out for Championship games every season, never seen him open before. Must take more notice!

Lancs 150 for 5 versus the Bears, not a bad day 1

Not bad at all particularly as we're still missing Rankin and Woakes.

Indeed.
Chris Wright seems a great signing, did bugger all at Essex but has been great since coming to us on loan and now permanently.

Oh dear indeed. Still, it's April. In Lancashire. We'll get a rainy draw.

An excellent day for the Bears.

Lancs are 44/4 in their second innings and still trailing by 35 runs.

81 - 7 to 329 all out is a fantastic recovery. Great stand by Maddy & Clarke.

If the weather is kind to us we could win this.

Looks like a draw is going to be the result unless we can finish them off quickly.
