Shocked, saddened and deeply upset.  Come on Stan, you can pull through. As for the match tomorrow.  CALL THE GAME OFF.

Why? Stan himself has insisted it must take place.

Because our players, Stan's friends and colleagues, will not be of the right state of mind surely. Same reason our game vs Bolton was called off.

Surely their captain telling them he wants the game to go on will help get them in the right state of mind.
;
Maybe, and I hope you're right, but in reality there is bound to be an adverse effect on the players mindset all the same.

I expect the opposite. You battle, you fight and you win. It isn't just about points tomorrow.

The way this horrible season has gone, we'll probably concede in the 19th minute and lose this limply 0-3.

Let's hope not, Stan deserves way better from the 11 out on the pitch tommorrow.

I so hope you are right but the words battle, fight and win are not exactly synonymous with our club at the moment and I really don't see how a life threatening illness to our captain is going to change that. Is it inconceivable that the boys will rally round and put in a good shift for Stan? No, it's not.  But I think given the fragile nature of our team at the moment a postponement would be the right course of action from our point of view.  People are saying that we should carry on regardless as per Stan's wishes but if a family member had been diagnosed with an illness and told everyone to "carry on" as normal it wouldn't stop everyone from feeling depressed.  I suspect our players will feel this way and it may well have a detrimental effect on our performance.

Absolutely.
I believe that the players will give it 100% for Stan and I hope that McL reflects the determined mood and selects accordingly. All through the match.  I call upon the combined wisdom of all on the bench to help him get this right.

Playing tomorrow is the best thing the Club can do, it give the Club players and fans the chance to unite and come together whatever the result. Its about Aston Villa Foootball Club coming together and showing that we look after our own UTV.

I don't really care if we lose tomorrow. If those players fight for their captain, if they leave absolutely everything out there on the turf, I'll be happy whatever the result.

Apperantly Stan is coming the game, so we have to do it for Stan.
