Up until the shock news regarding Stilyan I didn't give us a hope in hell of getting something from this match -

Whilst it has taken the spotlight off McLeish & recent performances surely this should galvanise both the players
and supporters to give it a go against one of the 'elite' ?

It's 1-1 and Andreas to prove a point by scoring again at the Holte End

I don't really care if we lose tomorrow. If those players fight for their captain, if they leave absolutely everything out there on the turf, I'll be happy whatever the result.

This

Agreed

It's ironic really that in recognising the worth of a model and modest (by nature) footballer, we are coming up against the team that is the very antithesis of those qualities, both collectively and individually. You couldn't wish for a greater contrast really than Stan Petrov and that loathsome bunch of chavs

Changed my mind about us getting a 0-0 win.
3-0 to us. Heskey hat trick from three pinpoint crosses from Albrighton and Warnock MOM for one of the best defensive displays ever seen at Villa Park.
Well why not? On a day like today we can all have silly dreams. ;)

Do it for Stan today lads.

Time for us to forget our feelings about the manager, and get behind the team.

Time to head into town and then onto the ground to harass Legion. Remember to buy your H&V from him on Trinity Road (Legion promised me a commission!) and if there are two very shifty looking blokes by him, don't worry, it's probably just me and Mr Redsox.

Lets do this for Stan today, on and off the pitch. We're Aston Villa, we have no superiors.

Today, we come up against a Chelsea side with no injury problems and good form, with all of our injuries and poor form, not to mention a manager who, although we support him as part of the family through these times, won't have morphed into a tactical genius, however good his intentions.

So we shouldn't be too disheartened, as fans and Petrov well-wishers, if we lose today. The result isn't important. What is important is the fight we show, the noise we make, the message we send that the club transcends football matches and results and becomes a community - to show one of our own, in his hour of need, that we are all with him.

Just something I noticed, there's 7 games today, all of them are kicking off at 3pm.

Perfect compromise for TV schedule, IMO. 2 on a Sunday and 1 on a Monday.

Can't be there today as doing 50th birthday things with wife but at 3:19 will be with you all in spirit.
Really want to be there for this - it transcends the other crap - to give support for something positive.
Someone shout extra loud for m and the lad...
