I hope Heskey gets a club soon. Maybe he's been holding out for the Prem, but he'll probably have to drop down. He's a good guy and always tried. He was just a bit shite. He'd lost one of his major attributes, pace that he had at Leicester and Liverpool. Bless him. I like Emile cause he's a trier. Always wanted him to have a good game and surprise me, and everyone else, but sadly he rarely did.
To be honest, the fact he can't play 90 minutes or two games in a week, suggests it might be time to call it a day. I'm surprised he passed a medical with us to be honest. Wigan fans might say the same.
Hargreaves is a curious one. He didn't really have any more injuries at City. He played a couple of games, actually did fairly well, it's just given their squad, he was never, ever gonna play much.
I think he's said as much though, that one twinge and it's all she wrote for him. On a pay as you play though, he could be useful. At his best, he'd be great for us, either starting alongside KEA, or on the bench when we want to start a more attack minded midfielder. I'd take the punt to be honest.
Or (sorry Onje-villa) I'd give Nige a one year deal!

Hargreaves was nuts to go to Man City - how many games did he think he'd actually get in their midfield?

I imagine he thought about the money on offer. Maybe he should have thought slightly longer term and gone to a club where he'd have got games, then he'd not be mooking about for a club like he is now.

Speaking of Man City, Scott Sinclair going there, how many games does he think he's going to get? That's one of the most depressing sights in football for me, good players like him and many others going where the big money is, and largely disappearing from view.

I wouldn't mind getting Hargreaves either, always seemed like a professional and he would give us some depth and cover.

Yes, I agree. The Sean Wright-Phillips effect as I always think of him of the first exponent of this. I often think there is a whole tranche of young players these days for whom the money is everything and who aren't really that bothered if they play or not. In fact, if they don't, it's more time to have a good time on the weekends etc

It's not just football though, is it? In most walks of life, people seem to be attracted to better paid jobs. Despicable!

Nobody is saying it is just football, and nobody is saying they shouldn't make the choice to go for the money, it's just that it is a shame that many of them end up not having the career they could have had, had they possibly gone elsewhere.

Former England striker Emile Heskey has declared himself "fit and hungry" and looking forward to finding a new club.

The 34-year-old is a free agent after leaving Aston Villa and can therefore sign a deal even though the transfer window has closed.

Heskey has turned down several offers as he waits for the right opportunity but admits he now cannot wait to get started.

"I feel as fit and hungry as I have done in a long time and have been training everyday throughout the summer," said the veteran forward, who has 62 caps for England.

"As has been reported I did receive a number of offers during the transfer window but didn't feel like any of them were the right opportunity for me at that time.

"I'm now looking forward to hopefully securing a new club over the coming days."

Heskey is reported to be attracting interest from Stoke and Norwich as well as Primera Liga side Espanyol but may be holding out for a surprise offer from former club Liverpool.

The Reds find themselves desperately short of strikers after they failed to replace Andy Carroll on transfer deadline day.

That would make it the best transfer window-ish signing of the summer!

There are a lot of very young players on that list. One wonders if they've anything else they can fall back on, or whether they have to start afresh.

Sven's just signed up to manage in Thailand. Heskey and Owen, get your passports ready.

Depends on how you've set up your account, if you've more posts per page, it'll be fewer. I have got 767 pages of similar bollocks.
