While i'd like a so called big name player, am I the only one enjoying us going after players i've never heard of and us seemingly having a plan B when a transfer target doesn't work out?

Im with you on this, players who are going to play for the shirt and actually feel proud wearing it. I also like how quickly we have targetted other potential players just incase we cant get the player we want. All very promising for the future

We have signed a few players, but we need real quality, urgently. We are at least 3 short. CB CM CF.

I think that was plan A all along, spend next to nothing on lower league players.  I can't say that I think it's a great plan or that I'm enjoying it.

while we need some experience it's a hell of a lot better than paying way over the top for players that aren't worth it, or good money for players like Hutton. I'm willing to give this a chance and give the manager the chance to build what he wants to build. After all, given the bollocks of the last two years isn't it what we need to do?

We need to win more games.  I can't see that this transfer window has improved our chances of doing that.  I don't think it will also put more bums on seats.  The Randy Lerner lack of investment continues apace.

Or maybe the manager is signing the players he wants, and is happy with.

That's not how everyone sees it. Lambert is bringing in players he wants. He'll have signed 7 or 8 players by the end of the window, agreed another deal for Dempsey which likely won't pan out. In all, he could have spend upwards of 20m just today if everything had come off. I'm going to enjoy seeing how all this works out. I certainly haven't given up on this being a good season.

If the figures for Benteke are true, might you change your mind?

The fact that Westwood was wanted by Swansea is promising.

Quite right.  He's exactly the type of signing I hoped we'd be looking at when PL took over.

God, there are some right muppets on Twitter </revelation> overreacting because they've never heard of him.  That's the small-minded attitude that got us in our current mess in the first place.

How can Southampton afford to splash £12m on a player yet we're shopping in the bargain basement?

Delighted with it all PWS. It might backfire, but it is all a bit more exciting. I would have loved a winger like Ince or Phillips too, but can't have it all. Maybe time to get a centre half in before the window closes. Dawson not moved yet. Could be the last one through the door.

We're potentially splashing 10m on a striker.
