Fielding would be a good signing. He's got a lot of promise. There was a fair bit of talk about him being a potential England stopper of the future a couple of years ago. He'd be an ideal third choice for us. And then second choice in the coming years with the potential to push Guzan for No 1.

Benteke hopefully will get done now.

A decent midfielder and it's been a very good window IMO. I like the mixture Lamberts trying to get. I actually think we're doing an Everton, which is no bad thing. Good youngsters, well scouted foreigners and a team that stays fairly consistent over a number of years. Potentially we could step it up further than them too, because we may spend a bit more if required. Hopefully we're close to financial levity and we can build efficiently. I like it. Beats signing players like Beye and Heskey on silly wages.
I also think, and hope players like Bennett, Bowery and Lowton, given that chance to step up will give their all and really appreciate the chance. Like Lambo says, hunger is important. Players like Warnock, Hutton, Dunne, I just sense want their paycheque and don't give a toss about the club. Some players O Neill signed just really couldn't give a monkeys. Mercenarys.
Lambert won't stand for slackers. I think good things are coming for Villa.
In the immediate future we could do with an experienced signing to help pull us out of this mire, but if a right candidate isn't available, then we'll have to make do as we are. If everything comes off then we've addressed fullback and lack of firepower up front, so that helps.

Fair enough if he wants to sign young players from the lower divisions, but they're from the lower divisions so they have got to be quality players to make the step up.

Although I don't have a problem with Lambert signing these players we really need to add quality to the squad, quality players that will make a big difference to the team. We can't rely on all these young players to turn it around, we need some experienced quality players who still have a lot to give and can be seen as a figurehead by the younger players. Dempsey would have been that sort of player. We really don't have that experience in our squad, an most importantly we don't have enough players who are winners.

With his goal record I guess it's probably as the market suggests. And Belgian players are the in thing right now. I fancy him to do well. Big, strong, quick and scores goals. He also looks ideal partner for Bent. Benty and Benteke. Match made in heaven. Hopefully he's this seasons Cisse/Demba Ba.
