Fuck off QPR, ridiculous.
I fucking hate QPR, I hope to the footballing gods they go down and molde. They have no plan what so ever. Plus they haven't got the ground, turnover potential to cope.
So well said Paul, fuck off indeed

To be fair to QPR, Kjaer and Granero would be great signings. They're betting the mortgage on staying up this season though. Imagine that wage bill in the Championship.

Forget in the Championship. Carvalho, Julio Cesar, Kjaer, Granero etc. The only reason they'd look at QPR is wages, that isn't sustainable in the Premier League or any other league.

Just back from work, any new signings or reliable links.

You've got to be joking. Seriously underwhelmed yet again in this window - just a left-back from Boro - their fans don't seem that bothered by him going. Well done Randy!

Jesus mate...just a lb from boro??  Thought he was our 5th signing this summer (6 if you include Guzan re-signing), and still in for at least 1/2 more.  What do you want? Grow up.

I think they want £10m+ signings as that will show that we are competing.  I have no problem with villa buying young players like Bennett and Lowton.  Look at Kyle walker for example.  He never had any premier league experience yet he had a successful spell at sheff utd in the championsip and then had a very good half season at villa.  Lets hope Bennett and Lowton can do the same for us.

He took a couple of years to get to that level though. We don't have the luxury of waiting that long. We could do with a couple of signings that will hit the ground running or I'm worried it'll be another long, miserable season.

What about Demba Ba, Ben arfa, Tiote, Cabaye, Papiss Cisse?  all players with little or no PL experience at this level but all seem to have done well.  Im not making a direct like for like comparisons to the players we have signed.  merely just stating that players can make an impact in the PL just like those mentioned did.

I am content with the Ins so far and a couple more would be great and give PL time to scout properly in time for next transfer window(s) in a progressive manner.

Just remember this Cuellar, Beye and Heskey cost towards £40m in transfer fees and wages and along with others helped push wages to turnover beyond sustainable levels and all had jackshit sell on value.

The wages have been the problem and buying younger hungrier players who will be receptive to modern coaching methods as opposed to the recent dinosaurs we have hired is the only realistic way we can compete when FFP kicks in. If they are any good there will be sell on value too.

To my mind we still have Hutton, Warnock, Dunne and NZog picking up 10m per year and delivering zilch. Added to the fact we are overpaying Ireland and Given based on their performances we still have some way to go.

Think we might have to wait until the end of the season to see who was right, no?

Yes, but as you hinted yourself, the players listed there had considerable experience either in the premier league, or in other top european leagues. which makes a big difference.

Jay Spearing (Victorian chimney sweeper look-alike) has gone to Bolton on loan, so that's one not to worry about.

Well said sir. My usual first of three football wishes is that Spurs get relegated, which is also the second and third.

This year my three wishes are that QPR, Spurs and West Ham are the three relegated.

Mat Kendrick ‏@MatKendrick
The ball is in Genk's court, #avfc have made an improved offer on their original one and would go a bit higher, but won't be held to ransom
