His agent is saying that Gent want way way above what we have offered (5.5m) so it appears to be a no-go this window.

I just hope PL has other targets as time isn't on our side here.

His club reckon he is as good as Hazard and want as much as he went for i.e £32m..............

Quoting such figures is largely posturing, so I'd say it's probably not dead yet.

This doesnt all add up to me. For the following reasons;
1) we would have already sounded out his agent and club to see if he would be interested in the move before placing any bid
2) we've clearly been given the 'green' light that making a bid would be worthwhile and MUST have been given an idea via his agent at least of a 'value'
3) plus our local press have been tipped off on this 'signing' and ran stories which is unlike us as we hold all info back

Therefore the idea that Genk suddenly value him way way above what we've bid sounds weird to me.

Posturing, last week of window games. I'm fairly confident we'll see more from this one.

I think this will happen and it'll be an undisclosed fee (of about 7-8m)

Can't blame them for trying to push the price up...As soon as anyone wants to buy in the last week of the window the silly money starts getting quoted....wouldn't say it was dead...the player seems to want out if he's on strike..

How do you pronounce Benteke by the way?

Bentecker?
Benteekey?
Bentehkee?
Benteek?

I'm surprised that he wants to leave his job as head of the Federal Reserve

I thought that he was ill rather than on strike

Is he? Just going on what others have said on here, so no idea.
At least we are being active, although would have hope it would have been before now. Let's hope a fee can be sorted...

Depends how much we want him or if we have other offers on the table. I actually think a couple of forward, a big one and a tricky one in the side with Bent and the midfield would suddenly look a lot better as they would have options in front of them. At the moment there is very little.

Well that's true. When Weimann was on the pitch he was moving so much more than Fonz or Bent ever did.

We don't have the money for this game any more. I can see another club matching, or at least coming close to matching,  their valuation.

The one thing we all know about our transfer dealings is that the silence leads the mind to play tricks. We can be optimistic one minute and gloomy the next yet in reality nobody knows anything at all. Look at the Vlaar deal as exhibit A. Nobody knows what the truth really is other than he was spotted at Villa Park, we went away on a trip and as soon as we got back we signed him. In between all of the noise came from his end and from his club because the approach had been leaked. If we are after this player, and it appears that we may be, then nothing will known or ever be announced on the OS until an offer has been accepted, and a lot will be said and written in between, almost all of it pure speculation.

Holman, I think. I was surprised he didn't start on Saturday, would have thought he's one of the first names on the teamsheet.

From youtube I do like the look of that Gouffran fella. Bit of skill. Youtube scouting is the way forward I am fairly sure.
