We don't need yet another financial time bomb.

We need players to keep us up. Dawson would be an improvement on the reserve rubbish we've got in our defence at the moment.

Signing players to keep us up after two games ...have some patients you lot. We need players now to plan for future progress in the Premier League.

I think a different approach is needed with our kids. Perhaps we need to loan more of them out at a younger age, and then scout them the same way as we would new signings. I know we don't put a lot of store in whatever TSM says, but according to someone I know who has spoken to him, we are too interested in winning trophies at reserve and youth level to let them go and develop in more competitive football.

Totally agree. Clark looks like he needs a full season at centre back on loan before being first choice in the prem at the moment. Baker looks stronger for playing out on loan last season too. I think we need to get them out, into competitive football with an assurance they are going to play more often than not.

I agree with the loans thing and in the times where money isn't exactly piling up in the corner, I'd love to see Villa link up with a Walsall or a Northampton to get these players out on loan for development purposes.

I'd rather go to every Small Heath game this season and then share a jaccuzzi with their five fattest fans afterwards, than sign that total cock rag Joey Barton. No, NRC is a far better option than Barton. And actually a better player. He doesn't have perhaps the technical ability of Barton, who's not exactly Pele, but he works harder, is more reliable, and is a decent bloke. Bartons a puke. Why sign a criminal like Barton who's likely to get himself suspended for a dozen games, even if he doesn't go and glass someone in the face and get himself sent to prison? A maniac. QPR fans hate him. He started okay for them but then started coasting and does his talking on twitter instead of on the pitch. This supposed footballing genius (in his own mind) couldn't even hold down a place for QPR. He'd been dropped a few times for being poor. Forgetting his lunacy in the last game, I don't know an R's fan out there who'd have said Barton had a decent season. He's just as big a mercenary as anyone else in their team. If QPR went bust tomorrow he wouldn't lose a wink. He'd be on twitter within minutes proclaiming how great Newcastle are. And guess what? The Toon fans are glad he's not there anymore. He's not played for a club where he's still popular amongst fans. The vast majority hate him.

How bout this? I'd rather have Robbie Savage than Barton and pay him 100grand a week. That's how much I don't want Barton here.

That article is a raggy piece of misinformation - very unfair on Lerner, and on Ellis for that matter.

I don't doubt that we need to be wary of relegation, and that we do need some additions to avoid an arse-clenching season. We certainly were a distant second best to Everton.  But some of the emotive narrative is absolute tosh.
