Lucas Biglia of Anderlecht would be a good addition to the midfield

What is Clark's role?

He's got a nice left foot and he's quite composed, but he is not strong enough to play centre half and get's pulled all over the place by top strikers. He's too slow to play left back and if he plays he plays midfield you barely notice him.

Like a number of our young players, he is not so young now and has experience. He's just not that good.

If nothing else Gabby offers pace and movement
Pace for sure, his movement is non existant though.

Disagree strongly with that. We were crying out for the sort of option her gives us yesterday.

He also makes the opposition play differently, they know they can't push up too much as he has the pace to kill them so it creates more space for others to play in.

Agree with this - I said after the Spammers game that he'd have got more out of the WHU back four than Bent did: he's stronger and moves for the ball in a way that Bent doesn't (Bent peels off in expectation of the pass, whereas Gabby meets it).

So unless Man Citeh score another goal in the last 10 minutes to win at Anfield, then we're going to be bottom of the league after just 2 games...and probably still there after we lose at Newcastle next week. That should send a loud enough message to Randy to back PL this week...lets hope it doesnt fall on deaf ears.

Im not telling anyone how to support just an 'opinion' on how to get to B6 cheaper.. If yoy prefer to watch it on your smartphone via peoples 'opinions' then great. Just dont have a hissy fit after two games.

Who's having a hissy? I'm concerned about the squad, it hasn't been improved and I'm saying so. I'd prefer to go to the matches, but circumstances dictate that I can't at the moment, nothing to do with not wanting to go down there. Also, it's still really expensive even with deals. I have no idea what you mean about opinions and smartphones, but I'm willing to bet you're having a dig.

Lerner has proved himself to be a Grade A twat over the last 2 seasons, I don't expect that to change anytime soon.

We need 3 players of quality and experience, you're talking in the region of £20m and I can't see him stumping up for that.

At the fans forum, speaking about Clark, PL said "no way is he a midfielder"

Can we please just buy Berbatov, he's dirt cheap for his ability and he can play the Robbie Keane role that we need someone to fill. He can actually pass, dribble and shoot. FFS get someone in.

I think we're still learning about which players best suit the formation. From yesterday, I think Baker should be played ahead of Clark, Delph ahead of Bannan, Weimann alongside Bent and N'Zogbia still isn't doing anything to justify a place in the team. Holman played a really good through ball for Weimann to hit the post and I think Carruthers could be an important player in the in-out role behind the front pair. Carruthers, based on the small amount of time he had last season is one who could provide that bit of unpredicability that we need.

Agree, although I'd include Herd in there alongside KEA, and I think that Clark still has some sort of a role.

I didn't mean to imply that Clark should be disposed of - just that in terms of the first team, I think Baker is the better alternative now even if Clark wasn't suspended for the next few games. I still hope Ireland can get his act together and whilst I don't hold much hope for N'Zogbia, you never know. I probably shouldn't have included the point about Carruthers as that didn't fit the context of what I was saying about players to play in the next game or so.

I also meant to say that Guzan should be selected ahead of Given. I don't know why the short passing stopped yesterday but it was even noticeable that Given had gone back to hoofing clearances rather than looking for a short pass like he did against West Ham. The second goal says it all about the 36 year old version of Given.

Just a thought as I am clinging to the hope that there will some squad changes over the next week;

Have we ever been properly involved on a deadline day?

If we get to next Saturday with the same squad I am genuinely fearful - its all well and good knowing we are going pass the ball but if you are too soft to win the ball it won't happen.

Priority list for me would be;
1. Central midfielder who is an 'enforcer'
2. Left back
3. Creative midfielder - needs to be better than Ireland / Bannan
4. Striker

All the optimism has evaporated.

It will be another season of discontent unless there's signings this week.
