Three managers, including the one who bought him, chose to either not play him or ship him out on loan.
The whole of the previous page demonstrates that this is utter nonsense. So please stop saying it.

How is it utter nonsense?  It's fact that McAllister and McLeish didn't rate him, and Houllier had dropped Makoun prior to Houllier's heart problem.

Not sure about that. Houllier went into hospital on April 20th He didn't play in the match on the 16th at West Ham, but he'd played in plenty of matches before that, including the two immediately prior to the West Ham game.

He'd been "dropped" from that match, yes, but it's not really accurate to suggest he'd been "dropped" in, say, the MON sense of the word (ie ceased to exist).

There were nine league matches from the point Makoun signed up until that West Ham game, and he played in seven of them.

Selling Dunne for a few million is great business. He is another big earner and again so inconsistent. Not just inconsistent between games but during the same game he can go from great to absolute useless.

To be honest I have not been a fan of his since the bust up during GH's season. With Collins gone and hopefully Warnock we can hopefully move on from a particularly bad period of time when I don't actually like many players who are playing for our team.

"He played in eight of the ten games that he was available for under Houllier's tenure. He was rested along with most of the first team in the FA Cup game. Leaving him being 'dropped' for one match"

It's utter nonsense that the person who signed him chose not to play him. The bit about the two REALLY shit managers not wanting to play him is completely accurate.

He was beyond woeful against Newcastle and was subbed in that game.  He was then dropped for West Ham.   Houllier also picked the team against Stoke from hospital and once again Makoun wasn't in the team.

Yes, but subbed isn't the same as dropped, is it?

Even if you think (and I've no idea how you'd know that) Houllier picked the Stoke team from his hospital bed, that's still a decent number of games he'd played, to suggest he was "dropped" in any permanent sense of the word by Houllier is really stretching it a bit.

Missed two games and subbed off for one = hardly Nicky Shorey.

There were reports at the time that Houllier had passed on instructions from hospital.  The fact remains, that he played poorly and was dropped.  I don't really care why to be honest, I thought he was shite and thankfully it looks like we saw the last of him in a Villa shirt a long time ago.

I remember Makoun putting a glorious through-ball for Bent to score against Newcastle only for him to be wrongly (?) ruled offside. He made another defence-splitting pass for Ashley Young who subsequently smacked the bar in that awful 0-1 home defeat to Wolves. The lad can pick a pass and had a decent pedigree prior to joining us. Our midfield is full of unproven or unreliable players, it's a pity Makoun hasn't got a proper go for us.

Yes, but the point is, if you say McLeish and McAllister didn't rate him and didn't use him you'd be right, as it was for a prolonged period.

With Houllier, that's patently not the case, no matter him being subbed off at Newcastle, or Houllier on his hospital bed telling them not to play Makoun.

Houllier clearly rated Makoun - he bought him, and he played him in all but two league games. Throwing him in as one of the managers who didn't rate him is well wide of the mark.

Hutton and Dunne for Jones looks a good deal for me. 2 lots of wages gone, striker in that is quality on his day and gives us a different option and no money spent, although we would need another centre half in some form.
This.
Maybe we're still after that Douglas geezer. This is the part where some smart ass tells me he's just been signed by someone, but never mind. If we get a decent CH to give Clark a run for his money then we'll be sorted there. That is unless PL believes Vlaar, Clark and Baker, with Lowton to cover, is enough? I'd say we lack a decent experienced option there.

Makoun wasn't dropped. He missed a game because something happened in his family and he couldn't be available to play. Delph was brought back into the team then based on merit, not because Makoun was dropped.

To say Makoun fell out favor or something like that is just false.

One thing I will say, if Lambert, having shifted Collins, goes on to shift Warnock, Dunne and Hutton, we were all right about the defence, and it didn't take him long to realise it and do something about it.

If TSM was doing this I'd have turned out the lights and packed my bags for Barnsley already. As it is, and while it depends on who comes in, I'll take a season of mid table adjustment under Lambert with new players and young lads. We needed to get rid of this lot. Houllier knew it, and Lambert has taken just a few weeks to figure it out.

It looks to be the case. To be honest, Lamberts identified every problem that's bugged the hell out of us and looks to be rectifying them. After the last two seasons, getting rid of all of that lot is bloody marvellous. Selling them is going to be hard, but at the very least, barring an horrific spate of injuries, we won't see any of them playing any time soon. Dunne may well at a push.

I'm not entirely sure we'll sell Dunne though. It'll be tough shifting him (without a forklift truck...he he) whilst he's injured. Still it's great that we've got a manager who knows what he's doing and who doesn't appear to have a massive ego, isn't stuck in some dark age of football or have his head up his own arse like our last four (more?) permanent gaffers.

Dunne going for money would be great. But we'd need to replace. And we'd need to do it with someone relatively proven.

In the words of Johnny Cash, he'd be "another man Dunne gone".
