You can't insure players against non-career ending injuries.

Good fact.  I was talking about insurance covering their wages rather than paying out their value.  Is it not possible to insure against that, in a way a builder might insure against injury.

Apparently not. I can see the point - Habib Beye would have had two yearsworth of 'minor niggles'.

You'd think we could've just invoked the trades description act with a few of our players...

Not sure nowadays how it works with the contracts, but a few years ago players would insure themselves against injuries, that way they wouldn't miss out on boneses ect.

I assume he's still injured. He was a big part of their team last year but you have to wonder whether Rodwell is his long-term replacement. He's too old, too slow and on too much money anyway.

De Jong is on his way out.............

As weird as it sounds, we genuinely need a nut case who enjoys hurting people. Not sure we could afford his wages though.

He's been asking for £165k a week from Man City.

Scott Sinclair at £5m looks a steal to me. Man City reserves or first team football with us.

If I were a Man City player I would probably ask for £165k/week too - they've shown they will pay it!

Silva is apparently asking for 210 to be highest paid player.

Wasn't he player of the season last year? You wouldn't exactly moan if you were negotiated down to £200k/week.

Villa have turned down Huddlestone's representatives, when approached to have him on loan.

Huddlestone did have promise, but he's now 15 and seems like he's been injured for a long time.
I'm not sure.
It would probably end up like Jenas did last season.

I think Huddlestone is a fantastic player. Shame we aren't interested.

Spurs have accepted a bid of £9m from QPR for Dawson.  How does Levy do it?

It's there whole transfer model, they buy young promising players cheap, if they are good either keep or sell for more money, if their not as good as first thought they still get a decent return because of their age.

We buy an old player like Heskey they sign an old player like Gallas, difference is we pay a fee.

I think this is going to be the direction we are going.

If thats the case then I would hope we must have a signing lined up - otherwise I would have took him on loan (just not on the same loan terms as the Jenas deal)

Maybe PL doesn't fancy Huddlestone as a option - I don't. In 7 seasons at Spurzzz he averages 17 league games a season, 16 games in the last two seasons.

He has ability, but whether through injury, form, attitude, whatever he is not making a significant contribution.

We have numbers in midfield, just not a proven (in this league) stand-out player to either physically 'boss' the game, be the creative spark, or by some miracle both. Hopefully KEA can impose himself and be the player we want, but unproven yet.

If we are going to add someone in midfield it has to be (IMO) because they would be, pretty much, the first name on the teamsheet - not to be another who is in and out in terms of appearances (Bannan, Gardner, Herd) or form (Ireland, N'Zogbia).

Remember PL as a player was an intelligent, industrious midfield player - I think (and trust) him to know what works and what combinations he wants. UTV.
