My only concern about lambert is that i was really positive that his teams would have a go - my mate said that apart from a Vlaar shot from 30 yards we never troubled the keeper in the entire game

Hardly inspired, attacking football is it - even with the players he has

It is one game. He can't just wave a wand and make it happen. It will take time to get them playing the way he wants.

Quality player Huddlestone, on his day. But that to me is the problem with our midfield at the moment, that they all have their moments but are so inconsistent.

And that's why I would just get rid of Ireland. He has a good game one in five, comes in and out of games. There is a good player in there somewhere but we need to see it in week in week out. Yes he had a good end to last season, but surely we can do better?

Mind you, I would be tempted to offer him and 2-3 million to Wigwam for Moses.

Jesus Christ is that a serious suggestion?

Why would it not be?
Moses is just N'zogbia from a couple of years ago.

I actually don,t think Moses is has good . and N'zogbia is not that good at the moment ;/

Ireland is a 20 minute a game player if you're lucky. He had his moments saturday (never in particularly dangerous areas) but for most of it he went missing. It was the same IMO in most of the games last season from our supposed player of the year. In the end he had one goal and I think a small handful of assists.
It'd be nice to have more consistent players than him and especially N'Zog. We'd work a lot better too. The trouble is we've lost Downing, Milner and Young who accounted for a lot of goals and assists for us. That's as yet been replaced.

Huddlestone is too slow. He's decent with the ball granted but he'll leave gaps in midfield. I also don't see him as an leader. We really lack a midfield general in the centre. We need someone vocal and someone who leads by example. The Hudd is not that. I'd rather get Nige on a free. It isn't misty eyed memories, it's the fact he's on a free and a player who'd add something to our team. There's no comparison to Herd either. Herds still inexperienced. He's also not (as yet) a leader. Nige has player over 200 top flight games. He's not just useful in the team but also in the squad generally.

There's plenty of similarities. Not least that Moses was pretty ordinary for Wigan right up until the tail end of last season. Same with N'Zog. We signed him after half a good season. He's end of season form masking the fact he'd done shite all in the first half. Moses is still more reliable granted but I wouldn't go there. Plus he's probably thinking of bigger places than the Villa now.

Still think Adam Johnson would be the best signing of players who are  available and that includes Moses , Sinclair and Jarvis .    Be gutted If MON got him.

We've been very narrow during pre-season, but Johnson and Super Marc getting fit would really change that.  Personally, I can only see Johnson happening if N'Zogbia goes, which there have been no rumours of, as a wages balancing measure.

Please stop making moderate and sensible comments - it'll give h&v a bad name!

Bassong (although he doesn't like really playing left back, does he?)  and Bertrand on loan could be targets for left back.

Really surprised no one has gone for Neil Taylor either.

I thought it was just quiet on him while he was away at the Olympics, but the fact he kicked off the season as a Swansea player did seem unlikely!

PL said at the open forum something along the lines that he won't be using wingers.  I personally think that Albrighton may well become redundant this season as I do not believe he has the ability to up his game into a more central positional player.  Plus he was found out by a lot of full backs who faced him last season.  He needs more tricks than to knock the ball past the full back and then outrun him.

Not interested in Huddlestone personally he's made 124 appearances in 7 years, He can't get in the spurs team and quite frankly I've had enough of their cast off's

Not too long I hope.  We've seen what happens when our team is devoid of confidence.
