He played there for Newcastle.

Not sure how well, though.

is that not why he sulked to leave ?

I thought it was because Kinnear didn't know his name.

The height and power argument well displayed by Everton. Players with power and height that can also play are very useful.

It helps if you can get away with absolute murder, like Fellaini did today. I'm sick of him and Cahill getting decisions in their favour which other clubs, with less of a reputation for 'work-ethic' and other such cliches, wouldn't get away with.

Also showed that 2 good full backs make a big difference. Strong in defence and did quite well going forward.

N'Zogbia was a left back when he came I am sure, but then went further forward. He is certainly feck all use at the top end, at left back he might be quite effective, certainly as a wing back in a 352.

Mind you, I would be tempted to offer him and 2-3 million to Wigwam for Moses.

With the money we are saving in salary for Heskey, Cuellar and Collins, plus the 2.5mill for Collins from Wet Spam, have Villa actually spent anything this summer?  So much for Lambert being backed in the transfer market!  There must be some seriously good transfers going to happen at VP over the next 10 days or so. I think the fans have done their bit so far with selling out at Upton Park and supporting the kit launch, spending loads.  Time for Randy to put his hand in his pocket.
It was generous of the new lads to come in and play for free.

read between the lines mate.  Ok, apart from the salaries of the new players, we haven't really spent a great deal have we.I am sick of reading that the club WILL back the Manager, when it hasn't happened. Yet the club bang on about buying season tickets.
We have spent £9m. Without checking, I would think that would put us about 6th in he spending charts so far.

Does that include the money we got back for Collins?

at some point you have to think they are going to have the "do you really want to play here?" conversation. He's literally done fuck all in pretty much every pre-season game against mostly average opposition. I honestly have a hard time believing he is the same player we bought a year ago such has been his decline in form. Fuck me, we don't half have some lemons that we need to be rid of.

NRC no thanks, can't pass wind, if he's great why has nobody snapped him up?

Yes. Some complete and utter disasters. Ireland and NZogbia the main ones, but including the MON bombs, and Makoun, there are too many. We have a 1 in 5 hit rate on transfers if lucky!

You’ve got to wonder whether he regrets asking for such high wages from Villa.

Nzog has been awful since we got him, he was useless most of the time for Wigan as well. I hope PL works this one out sooner rather than waste another season finding out.

Yep, got the impression right from day 1 Ireland & NZogbia didn't want to be here. Would gladly fuck one of them off to make room in the squad for NRC. Not a world beater but at least he gave 100% every game, had some good games for us and one or two excellent ones.

Someone mentioned earlier that Fellaini and Cahill got away with loads of fouls because that was the way Everton played. I feel Villa have lacked that kind of 'lucky' physical player for a while. I think it was O'Neill said we were too nice, which was the acceptable side of O'Dreary's 'honest bunch o' lads' schtick. But that's been talked about for six years now...surely all the managers who've overhauled our squads must have noticed by now?

Our transfers in hindsight have set us back 5 years. Lambert is absolutely the right person for this job. For the shit he needs to move and position he needs to rebuild from he needs our complete support. No point harping on about the past. There is nothing that can be done about that. I just hope the board collectively has learned from that and the decisions moving forward are much better thought out.

You're right, he wasn't a world beater, but since when is "giving 100 percent every game" enough?

I understand the argument re Ireland, but I don't see how that makes re-engaging Reo-Coker any more of a decent idea. He'd run around more than Ireland does, maybe, but so what?

How about using players who can actually play a bit?
