I'd take the 12 month loan. We're not going to get money for him, at least it gets him off the wage bill. It would still be like selling a new player.

I think it may well be a loan for 12 months but the loan fee will be about 1.5 million and his wages will be gone. Which is a bonus. Oh and he has been completely crap for 2 years.
