I was just making the point that some Stoke players may sneak into our squad, irrespective of the football they currently play. And, as for not swapping N'Zog for Etherington? I'd swap him for Downing.

Lukaku is a strange one, and I would hope we would push for it to be a 1 year loan with the option of a second for example. 12 months would not be enough to get the best from him I would fear. He would only just be adapting and the loan would finish.

What club would agree to that? If you are going to send a player to a club for two years you may as well sell him.

I feel like I'm in the minority here but I would quite like Kenwyne in the squad. He pairs up incredibly well with Darren and in a possession oriented offense we could definitely use his size and heading ability.

He didn't pair up very well with Bent at Sunderland.

I don’t know, Chelsea will struggle to give him enough game time for him to improve to their (aspirational) standard.  After two years he’d be the real deal.  I think it’d be a good deal for him and them as long as they extended his contract.

Mainly in Europe and Spain in particular, but they have happened, and would be much more of an incentive for us to improve him and bring him on that 1 season and gone. At his age, 1 year would be like when we had Carlton Cole, good in a game or two and too young and raw in many others.

There’s also the Romeu deal between Chelsea and Barca.  Chelsea have signed him but Barca can sign him back cheaply if he fulfils his potential.

Shawcross is a good defender, and would be a good signing for Villa but would cost the earth I reckon.

Agree that he would be expensive Ozz and we probably don't need to be shelling out big dough on a CB right now.  He must be thinking the time to move from Stoke is fast approaching though, especially when he sees the likes of Jagielka getting into the England squad before him.
