I don't think we'll sign anyone from within England.
I'd have no complaints if they cut off everything north of Alton Towers and let it float off into the Atlantic, but I still think Sheffield is technically English.
from now. I meant.

Do you mean Schevviild? Yes that is in England.

We were strongly linked with the Ipswich left back, presumably on the basis that we get rid of Warnock. I know what you mean but I would phrase it more like 'we won't pay over-inflated prices for English-based players that are past their sell-by date'.

I wouldn't sign Fletcher for that sort of money he is just not worth £12 million.

I think we were linked with Cresswell and then Ipswich started talking about a £6m fee.  And people wonder why there are so many foreign players in the English game.

If, as report, we and Sunderland want both fletcher and Milner, then surely we could come to some sort of deal...
We take Milner and we won’t bid and raise thew price for Fletcher.

Bingo.  All problems solved.

Imagine what striker we can buy for ten millions in europe if we do our homework. We need to finyd the next Ruud Van Nisteelrooy or Didger Drogba. There must be someone worth a look in French/Dutch/German league.

15m for Joe Allen and 12m for Steven Fletcher? Silly season my friends, is well and truly upon us.

No it's not. You need to look at who is going to spend. It's Liverpool and Martin O'Neil. Two institutions well versed in wasting money.

Can we have Ashley back instead? The hankering for Milner gets so dull.

The striker situation is an interesting one: do we need an additional striker because the 4 we have are not reliable enough to score the goals we need (either through fitness or ability reasons)?
Or, have we got reliable strikers who were not served adequately by the rest of the team last season?

IMO, Lambertino should wait until January and give the new squad / new management team the opportunity to identify the real issues. It's a risk, but we will not find out whether Fonz and Weimann can really do it at EPL level unless we take that risk.

I think we can take that risk in all but two positions - LB and striker.  TI hose two positions need to be addressed before the window closes and in the case of a LB, preferably before the season starts.  I think most people on here will already have an opinion on whether the Fonz is going to make it at Premiership level and we can't be relying on Weimann at his young age.  Even if it is a loan signing, we need another striker bringing in asap.
I was referring only to the striker position in the above.
I definitely think we need a new LB in before the season starts.

They want him to work with the academy, not play for us.

They want him to work with the academy, not play for us.

He become famous during the 2011 Italian football scandal when he was approached and offered €200,000 by Alessandro Zamperini, a former teammate at A.S. Roma, to influence the outcome of an Italian Cup match between Cesena and Gubbio on 30 November. The player refused and reported the incident to the police,[10] resulting in the arrest of 17 people the following month.[1] Following this, the Italian national team manager Cesare Prandelli invited him to train with the national team for three days as a prize for his honesty.[11] For the same reason, he received an award from Sepp Blatter during the 2011 FIFA Ballon d'Or ceremony .
Apparently  ( according to Gazzetta  ) Villa want to add Farina to their youth set-up  and  get him to teach youngsters about fair-play/morality etc .........Godzvilla!
