For how much he'd cost in fee and wages I wouldn't want Sturridge. I think he's overrated and I don't like his attitude. He'll never be as good as he thinks he is. On loan I'd accept, but they won't loan him out.
I tend to agree. I compare him and Welbeck, as they're similar in age and ability. But not attitude, Welbeck seems to be a more down to earth bloke, Sturridge however seems to have a huge chip on his shoulder.

Yup, I agree.  I think he is in a pretty perfect place at Chelsea.
He’d be a star at Villa but I think he’d prefer to be a reserve at Chelsea.

Yeah. I really didn't like his attitude after the penalty shootout failure. It was his piss poor penalty, which kind of had a mark of arrogance about it. It's all well and good but you have to back it up. He didn't. But he showed no dignity afterwards, and little respect for his teammates. No class. emotions are one thing but you've got to think to. Britain and the vast majority of its competitors in the games have been brilliant and done the country proud. Sturridge throwing his toys out the pram was a rare blot during the games and it just had to come from a footballer didn't it.
Much has been made about Britains Olympians, and their dedication, humility and attitude compared to the overpaid, primadonna footballers. It's hard not to agree in truth and Sturridge only exemplified that.

Sturridge ran his bollocks off in that match. He's a decent player in my opinion.

So footballers aren't allowed to show any sort of emotion? I actually quite like the fact he took it so hard and was clearly very upset, it showed to me he clearly has a passion for what he does. I'd be a lot more annoyed if he'd shrugged it off as if nothing happened.

Scott Sinclair is apparently shagging the girl who plays Rosie Webster in Corrie.

Lucky, lucky man.
I've shagged her.

I've seen Park, the Arsenal striker from Korea have 2 good matches at the Olympics, he's a very hard working player, might be worth a go.  I like the look of Lansbury too, if we're in for Arsenal players.

Maybe, but the way Sturridge shrugged off/pushed one of his team mates when they were trying to console him was a bit over the top as if it was just him that was hurting.

Hmmm, of course, this is the Sturridge who was ill with meningitis just a couple of weeks before the Olympics and a major doubt to be involved - the guy was clearly exhausted by half-time of the opening match but ended up playing a big role in the tournament, with two important goals. Worked hard to make the Games, worked hard to make the team. Compare and contrast that attitude with maybe someone who chose not to play, but played for his club on tour instead.

You see what you see, I guess, which is fair enough. He's got that touch of arrogance but that's not necessarily a bad thing - I don't get the impression that he's not a team player, don't see a lack of effort. If he reacted badly after missing a penalty (what is reacting badly after a penalty miss? It's a tough thing to happen... is there a right way to react in those circumstances?)

I know I'd be delighted if he joined Villa.

IMO u need to be naturally left footed to play @ Left back so leave him then

Maybe. But there's loads of examples (Luke Young, Dennis Irwin, Gael Clichy, Neil Taylor) of it working. Plus, with the growing fashion of inverted wingers it means wide players are coming inside and attacking fullbacks weaker sides more often. Being a right footed leftback would enable a fullback to tackle with their stronger foot should the winger come inside.

Paolo Maldini was naturally right footed which I didn't know until I saw a documentary about him. Arguably the best left back ever.

I appreciate the fact he worked hard, and to be honest of late I was thinking he'd curbed the ego a bit, but he let himself down a little in my view. His ego got the better of him with his penalty. I just don't think you should be going for something like that on a must score kick. His behaviour after wasn't great. It's not my entire basis of opinion on him, I base on what we've all seen and heard the last 3-4 years.
I give him no brownie points for hard running and wanting to come here to compete, even despite the health scare. For every athlete who's come to the games it's a given, a pre-requisite.

That being said, if he was Mario Balotelli, his reaction after would have been accepted and probably laughed off as "Oh, that's Mario!"

As long as you are two footed it's okay. J'Lloyd in fairness to him was almost equally adept (some may argue inept I suppose) either foot. It took me a while to realise he was a right footer playing left back.

Philip Lahm probably the best example currently playing of a good right footed left back.  Actually seems to play better on the left when I've seen him for Germany/Bayern.

Isn’t it shocking that all footballers are not two footed.  All it takes is training.
Southgate was a great example of how much easier football looks when you can kick with both feet.

That great player who sought Champions League football, so left for Middlesboro. Southgate wasn't as good as he thought he was.
