Bannan and Annan would be a great duo

Maybe we can get Jim Gannon out of retirement as well.

Annan was impressive in the World Cup. I wanted us to sign him back then. Would fit in well and I could see him working well with Karim.

Annan and The Governor in midfield would be fantastic.

There must be some style of strike partner that Bent can play well with

We didn't look like scoring today, I know its a friendly but I think we'll struggle for goals

I was impressed with Annan at the World cup too and was touting us to sign him. Didn't he go to Blackburn and hardly feature though?

We didn't make a clear cut chance all afternoon. Lerner really needs to invest some serious cash or we'll struggle again next season. I saw nothing today to make me think otherwise.

It's a preseason friendly, I don't think the panic button really needs to be pressed.

It's just an honest opinion. I thought we were awful.

Match report from the Eve Mail doesn't sound like we were never going to score, of course those that were there may have a different view:

Villa dominated the first half and should have led at the break after having two goals disallowed and spurning a host of chances.
Bannan, who had earlier clipped a free-kick just off target, proved practise makes perfect two minutes later with a sublime strike into the top corner.
Villa tried to respond when Holman turned inside his marker and curled wide and El Ahmadi fired a dipping effort just over the crossbar.
Another new boy Vlaar also threatened at the other end when he headed just over from Bannan’s cross after a burst into the opposition box.
Bent almost grabbed a late consolation when he raced on to Bannan’s pass and held off a defender, but his first-time strike was beaten away by Camp.

I'll say one thing, Holman sounds like he's going to be very good player for us.

If anyone who has been stating we do not need another striker. Well it could not of been any clearer today that we certainly do. I seriously think we should try and off load Nzogbia and bring in a fresh player who is hopefully on Lamberts radar. We are lacking goal scorers. Before todays game i have thought we will struggle to score enough goals to win games. I hope Lambert has also realised my fears ..........
